Today was my first range day since starting to use the LASRx system and SIRT pistol/SIRT bolt, I cannot believe how much I improved my proficiency simply by having a few hours of SIRT practice at 4 yards in my living room.
Surprisingly enough improving my pistol reloads really helped my AR reloads, I'm not sure what exactly helped but I do find myself instinctively looking at the mag/magwell faster which helps with speed.
Also, the SIRT bolt is very "clicky" and I think that it helped me find the reset and prep the trigger, I don't have a shot timer but my double taps felt extremely fast.

My SIRT arrived today. Seems solid. Pistol fits my existing holster.

Mine fits my holsters as well but it doesn't engage the ALS, I'm considering trying to modify the slide slightly so the ALS will engage to ensure I have proper muscle memory.

I wasn't making a conscious decision to, so no, if I did it wasn't a consistent thing. I've heard from several shooters that are way more advanced than I to look at the magwell during a mag change (as well as bring it into your workspace, which I was doing before) but I never practiced it until laser training.

SIRT is a Shot Indicating Reset Trigger Pistol, they're essentially an inert pistol that have a laser and trigger mechanism modeled after different firearms (such as the Glock, M&P, and Sig P320) and it allows realistic training for trigger reset and trigger control. My SIRT M&P is above your post, notice it's a very close copy of a real M&P, it has weighted magazines that you can drop and reload, the biggest difference besides not being capable of firing live ammo is the slide does not move so you cannot replicate malfunctions, tap rack re-assess, or sling shot the slide.

Probably not my cup a tea personally.

However, I agree that looking at the magwell, specifically on a handgun, turning the magwell inward in the workspace is the best way to be consistent using the index finger as a guide and looking at what you’re doing while maintaining situation awareness.

I thought the sirt thing somehow designed to help like with computer software or something but now that I know what it is, I see you used it to train into the technique is what it sounds like. ?

I've seen too many videos of guys having to reload under stress and trying to jam in a magazine when the empty didn't drop free or trying to insert them backwards that I want my training to make me as efficient as possible, if I'm already looking at the magwell I'm ahead of the curve if my empty doesn't drop free.

The SIRT does work with several different pieces of software, I use it with software so it tracks my time and accuracy but you can use it without to practice trigger press and sight alignment and just watch the laser activate manually.

Indeed. I’ve grabbed magazines incorrectly (reverse grip vs beer can) and put them in backwards while getting pounded by a dishka. I’ve have mags not come out when using the mag release, etc. I’m a huge proponent to using gross motor skills for combat. It’s not as fast as some other methods but it’s always a sure thing after building up the muscle memory. Especially when you cold, tired and pumping with adrenaline.

It engages my retention just fine here.

    ...

The bolt replacement was a pain to get properly working, though. Ended up not using the trigger foot, it kept being sticky and stopping proper disengagement of the laser.

The SIRT is meant to replicate draw-and-fire drills, and keep trigger pull proficiency intact. If you want failure drills, that's better done in live fire mags with occasional blanks or empty cases inserted into the mag.

So it's running those repetitions you want in ipsc style games, or for use in a judgemental fire scenario, that's when a firearm replica comes in handy.
