    Anything by Ruger.
They have a plethora of intro firearms for the beginner. They ate lifetimers to, from one gen to another.

The 10/22 is one firearm you can depend on to go from one generation to another......

For semi-Auto rifles it's hard to argue against the 10/22 but the Marlin model 60 is also a great "classic" option.
For bolt rifles both the Savage options are all good, as well as Marlin XT-22 options (Available in both tube and magazine feed)
For semi-auto pistols the Ruger Mk 4 is the bar, the smith and Wesson Victory is very similar and I'm a big fan of mine. You could also go with the clones of the modern centerfire pistols but most are sub-par (For example the P22 from walther and Sig Mosquito have very spotty QC) but the Smith and Wesson M&P 22 compact and Taurus TX22 are both known for decent quality,

    Ruger 10/22

These are the big 3 I see at Appleseeds.

    As far as handguns,
    Ruger MKx series
    Ruger SR22
    M&P22 a
    work well.

I feel like the Model 60 is better out of the box compared to the 10/22, but if you want to do more than upgrade sights then the 10/22 is your best choice.

I picked the M60 specifically because it won't tempt me to dump money into it haha.

And best bolt action for the money by far is CZ

Yup, though I've spent $200 on my $125 Marlin 60 since I bought it, so even that wasn't fool proof. There's always some little thing to do.

Looking for a PCC ummm pistol. I was really set on the Scorpion but then discovered the Ruger PC Charger and then discovered the Stribog. So once these things are back in stock, I'm trying to choose between Ruger and Stribog. It will probably live in my truck (at least during the day). And needs to be ambi since I shoot left handed. They both are in the same price range and will get a brace.

    Ruger:
It's a Ruger, usually ugly but very reliable.
    Takes Glock mags
Takedown (although not sure how often I'd use that)
Ambi controls except the safety but I'm 99% sure I can use a 10/22 left hand safety

    Stribog:
    I really like the thinness
Takes it's own mags so I can't share with my Glock 45
    Looks better than the Ruger
Ambi controls, including an AR style safety which is nice

Are you willing to wait for the Stribog A3? It's a roller delayed system rather than the blowback of the A1 Stribog and the Ruger. Combined with a folding brace it would be the most compact and by far the best shooting of the 3(likely similar to the MP5 based on the system similarity), and Stribog mags are cheap. The biggest drawbacks to the A3 are the wait for them to enter the country and the price. If you want the A3 but can't wait, buy an A1 then trade up to an A3 down the road. If you really value the Glock magazines the Ruger is the best option.

Seeing as how nothing is in stock right now, I have no choice but to wait anyways. :D

But the A3 is $200 more, now you're into Scorpion territory. I'd prefer the street price of less that $700. Maybe once the A3 hits, that companies will make parts to convert the A1 to an A3. My Glock 45 came with 3 mags plus I just ordered 2 more Glock Pmags. So I do like that part of the Ruger.

I'm not convinced the Skorpion will shoot any nicer than the other blowback PCC's. The MP5 is ubiquitous for a reason, and it ain't price. I do expect the A3 to street in the 800 range, but I'm not a dealer myself.

Has anyone used rocket CCW? I’m considering using it to get an out of state CCW even though I’m covered by leosa.

I've seen a few sites pop up offering the Virginia Non-resident CCL, I'm assuming they're kosher but I haven't verified that.

It’s owned/operated by Ryan Cleckner (who also owns Rocket FFL, which I’ve heard good things about) s I assume it’s kosher but I haven’t really looked into it other than hearing about it on his podcast and going to the website home page.

That makes sense since the non-resident here doesn't require anything to be done in-person. If either you or @95 taco has prior service, merely showing a DD 214 shows proof of adequacy with a firearm.

Cleckner's name is enough for me, you can't argue his credibility.
Unfortunately no, I never served and probably should have.
