I bought mine to carry in the woods for copperheads and rattlesnakes. Coming across a rattlesnake with only a machete isn’t fun.

I was hesitant on Holosun as well, coming from Eotech.. but after comparing prices for what setup I wanted, and checking them out in store (had them unbox and install batteries so I could check it all out) I was sold. Mostly because of the price.. half the cost. The magnifier itself is basic and works great. I imagine the glass between the different magnifiers is generally the same.. at least enough so that I can't tell the difference. My buddies and I run a mix of Holosun, Eotech and vortex. I cannot tell the difference between the Eotech and my Holosun magnifier.

The reticles themselves... I was actually concerned about the quality and sharpness of the Holosun reticle, but after checking them out in store, and trying my buddies out in the desert, again for the price, I was sold. Super clear and bright. Solar backup and shake awake features are awesome. I really have zero complaints.. especially for the price. I paid 520 out the door for the Holosun red dot and magnifier combo package. We all know what the Eotech equivalent costs... lol

It really is.. I wanted to not like them.. and was ready to buy the Eotech setup in stages.. but after going in and looking at them.. which were right next to the eotechs.. it was a no brainier for me. Hopefully you can check em out and let us know what you think!

We literally capped a Rattler a couple weekends ago while out sighting in my Sig 556 ^^ with a Taurus Judge. Lol had the first chamber loaded with a 410.

I still prefer my GP100 with snake loads, but the Taurus wasn't the worst thing I've shot. And was actually smacking the steel target at 100yds with .45.. was surprised honestly. I didnt want to like it. Lol

Didn't think it would be so difficult to get pictures. Lol reticle is set to about the middle brightness setting. And don't mind the front post.. I'm waiting for my front flip up to come in to swap. Last pic is through the magnifier. I'll try and get some outdoor/longer range pics this weekend.

I sold my Eotech to buy one. The reticle is much crisper, love the auto shutoff, shake to wake and solar power. I have several other Holosun red dots. They're really hard to beat for the features to price comparisons.

Sorry if I missed it (I looked through your previous dozen posts or so), but what model red dot and magnifier are those?

My wife uses aimpoint, she’s got the pro and decided to keep it over the trijicon mro.
I’m an eotech guy. I just stick with what I learned. I’ve noticed a little bit of parallax up close with her aimpoint, I’ve never seen an non-magnified eotech have parallax, and it’s advertised as such. The parallax issue really only comes up when i switch shoulder pocket on a left side lean if taken a weak side corner.
    (With the aimpoint)

same! Sold my 512 and picked this setup up. the price per feature is hard to beat. best bang for the buck for sure.

its the HS510C red dot and HM3X magnifier.

Thats the one thing I will say, is that since the Holosun isnt a true Holographic like Eotech, it does have slight parallax.. but its so small, and when you get consistent cheek weld, its not even noticeable. I was able to repeatably hit a target at 100yds with quick follow ups. The price is just hard to beat..

Depends who you are and what you find acceptable. A lot of these particular rifles in the case of me and my wife are for real world threats. The issue I consider isn’t making shots on the flat range, or that the 36/300 poi/poa is going to be off because of parallax, the issue is as you said, getting a proper cheek weld is not always obtainable once gear comes on and shooting weak side on left side leans for the right handed shooter, which is only made worst when force on force. This is coming form my experience that aspects of combat is generally a game of geometry and angles without diving too far into it.

In the case of holosun, I actually think the 500 series are made very well, I’ve been wanting to like them for a long time. Unfortunately even before this virus crap, I just couldn’t bring myself to get behind a Chinese company. Especially with what I get in special pricing for with the other companies. Just me though, I don’t look down on other people for using holosun.
