Depends what it is. This isn’t always a true statement. Optics being one example.

.380 acp vs water moccasin, I don’t remember exactly what rounds are in it but they’re a federal (I think) hollow point.
Shot from about 2 yards with an LCP, head separated from the body by about 2’.

Well background check is still over 10 days here in California. Seen reports of it being back down to 10 but guess it's not for everything. On day 11 now.

With the Trijicons and Aimpoints that don't have a "shake to wake" type feature, do you just leave it on all the time since they do have 3-5 year battery life?

Yup. And I change my batteries annually. Overkill perhaps, but batteries are cheap.

I think it’s about time for a new battery and it’s a good idea to change them out every year or two

I can understand that line of thinking. Especially when you're talking $300-$400 Holosuns. You're getting close to Aimpoint and Trijicon territory. I have an ACOG on my 16" rifle. Those are awesome! I thought long and hard about getting a Primary Arms version but knew I just really wanted an ACOG. Plus if the tritium ever fails, it still works as a sight. :D

Originally I had a Vortex Crossfire II 6-24x50 on my Ruger American Predator 308 as I planned on long range shooting. And a Vortex Diamonback 3-9x40 on my 16" AR. Realizing I have nowhere to shoot long range, (nor the talent :D) I put the 3-9x40 on the Ruger as it's a much better combo as a hunting setup. Sold the Crossfire II and bought an ACOG.

I have an old Aimpoint m2(sort of a pro), had an MRO, sold it off and kept the aimpoint. Overall preferred the Aimpoint my 2c.

I do have a little holosun 407c that is pretty slick. Is clearer than the trijicon rmr I had, and has shake awake, which is just pick it up and its on. something like 50k battery life, and has solar for when you are outdoors.. I feel the holosuns wont be as physically "tough" but figured I would try one. So far it has impressed me.

I have 2 holosun’s, a 403 (solar) on my SBR and a 507C on my M&P40, I’ve never had an issue with the 403 and I’ve treated it pretty roughly (bouncing around in trucks, SxS’s, and other equipment.
The HS507C had to be replaced by Holosun after fewer than 50 rounds.
