My comment had Nothing to do with you being a woman. That’s actually sexist for you to suggest that.

And You never answered my question.

Nowhere in his post was there even a slight inclination of you being a female, nor anything degrading regarding your gender.

You’re doing yourself no justice by making comments like that.

I love how low profile that light is. How do you like it and how does the switch location, operation work?

Hey OP I like my Glock 23 quite a bit, I find it to be a pretty good all arounder. Glocks are mid price and have a proven track record of reliability. .40 Cal ammo packs a significant punch over 9mm but weighs less and has less recoil compared to .45 ACP, so it shouldn't overwhelm you or your wife and still has decent magazine capacity at 13+1 with standard mags. It's small enough you could use it as CCW if you so desired but doesn't feel tiny in my hand. You can also purchase a 9mm conversion barrel for $100-200 that will allow you to shoot 9mm rounds out of it for less expensive range time or lower recoil. In my personal opinion I think a pistol is probably the best choice for home defense but as you can tell that's highly debatable. They say the best gun is the one you have. Pretty much anything else I might add has been said, debated or contested on here already. Take a class, get some range time in and buy a safe since you've got kids in the house. Have fun shooting.

there are two “paddles” on the back that operate the light. Positive pressure allows momentary operation and two presses turns on constant.

No. There is a substantial amount of information on the caliber debate and this has all but been debunked. I'd highly advise people to look at ballistic charts in addition to considering round capacity and recoil management before making this decision.

I agree with everything else you pointed out.

I really like it, although I still need to buy a new holster for it for this combo. Its much lighter weight, and compact, than the x300. The only issue I've found so far, is the switch sticks a little bit sometimes so the light doesn't shutoff when you release the momentary. Might just need to wear it in, if not I'll contact Surefire, they are usually good at fixing issues.

I haven't shot the gun with this light on it, so I'm not sure how much carbon it'll collect. The x300 gets pretty nasty, and I forgot to cover it the last time I took it to the range.

The x300 is huge to conceal carry, for me at least. But I might install it on an AR pistol.

Seriously, read your comment from my perspective. Its a bit condescending to suggest I've never shot big game before. If you were in my shoes, how would you take a sly comment such as the the one you made?

I've hunted and shot everything from squirrels to white tail. No luck with bear though.. I gave up hunting because of Raynauds (poor circulation) in my hands, so now I just take pics of them. I do miss venison though.

I asked that question because she sounded like someone who has read a lot about ballistics and formed her opinion based on that versus actually killing large mammals with various types of firearms and then observing the damage.

More like $40 street price. Honestly my Beretta M9A3 mags are more than my USP or P30 mags.

So instead of just simply asking me if I've taken large game its better just to assume that I haven't? :boink:

I do also base my opinion on researching ballistics and other resources by others that have put in the time and expertise. Massad Ayoob for example. But meh, who are they compared to your ultimate wisdom?

They've gone down over the years then. I can still buy two Glock mags for the same price.

FWIW, after being told to shut up, get back to the kitchen, being called a slut, a cunt, among other things for having an opinion its pretty easy for myself and other women to take comments like that from men in a sexist manner.

Even on this forum my military service including my time spent in the sandbox was questioned, like as if I didn't do anything but sit in a cushy office, and don't deserve my service ribbons. So tell me why I shouldn't take a condescending remark as being sexist?

If this forum is all about that, well, you "gentlemen" can shove your egos where your heads are at.

    1. Always treat the gun as loaded.
    2. Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
    3. Always keep your finger straight and off the trigger until you are ready to shoot.
    4. Always keep the gun unloaded until you are ready to use it.
    5. Never point the gun at anything you don't intend to destroy.
    6. Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.
    7. Learn the mechanical and handling characteristics of the gun you are using.
    8. Always use proper Ammunition.
    9. Be sure the barrel is clear of obstructions before loading and shooting.
    10. If your gun fails to fire when the trigger is pulled, hold your shooting position for several seconds; then with the muzzle pointed in a safe direction, carefully unload the gun.
    11. Don't rely on the gun's safety to keep it from firing.
    12. Be aware of your surroundings when handling guns so you don't trip or lose your balance and accidentally point and/or fire the gun at anyone or anything.
    RANGE SAFETY

    4. Always keep the gun on safe until you intend to shoot.
    5. Never climb over anything with a loaded gun in your hand or on your person.
    6. Never use a scope on a gun as Binoculars.
    7. If you fall or trip, control your muzzle. Afterward, check the gun for damage and/or obstructions in the barrel.
    8. When in Doubt; Don't shoot.

NC is a pretty favorable state for firearms. Last I counted, I believe you can carry concealed in 38 other states with NC's CCW permit.

If you haven't noticed, I'm not interested in arguing with you and I've returned to my original intent of being here and discussing the Op's question. It's very clear the direction you want to drive the conversation and I want no part of it.

    Have a great day!
