I'm of the school that do what you love but don't flaunt it. Plates are fine. A small decal in the window so you can speed and not get pulled over fine. But don't wear shirts and crap off duty with a giant Maltese Cross or Star of life decal that takes up the entire rear window.

I thought it was acceptable as it seems everyone does it........

    case in point, http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/off-topic-discussion/244297-official-gopro-hero-3-thread.html

Cops shouldn't have that stuff on their car.....too dangerous imo. FF's sure, military sure but LEO's/ CO's, nope, not because you aren't appreciated, but it is dangerous to you and your family. There are too many crazies out there! And my guess is this guy was pissed at being seen as the bad guy for 20 years by law breakers and pissed that FF's aren't seen in the same light. Both are necessary and its shitty that LEO's give their lives and protect the innocent the same as FF's but aren't given the same respect.

whoever got banned sounded like he was pretty salty  Much support to all the service members/ police/ firefighters, would never see a public display of pride as douchey.

I say get the FF plate. Just don't be one of those guys who has one and drives like a bat out of hell and pisses everyone off. I get annoyed when I stop a firefighter or officer who drives recklessly on purpose, just because they can, and then throws out their credentials when stopped. We had a letter to the editor in our local paper recently that talked about gov't tags accompanying reckless drivers. We should be more responsible than that. I'm also not a fan of going crazy and putting 7 stickers or a plane banner on your window advertising it. Ok you're a fire fighter, we get it.
