Looking forward to it. Love 3rd gens. Just wish Toyota hadn't ruined the 4runner after that :(

Thanks guys! Yea I really do love these things, simple and bulletproof! This thing has 220k on it now and still runs like the day it came off the lot, I would like to think the new trucks will hold up as well but I have my doubts.

I've already clearance'd the rear fenders and barely gotten started on the fronts. Tucking 35's takes a little more room than Toyota provided. :D

I have no doubt new Toyotas will have their drivetrains last forever just like old Toyotas.

It's everything else that's plastic and falls the fuck apart. Also, they aren't as abuse-resistant (see: rear diff issues).

shit kevin. this is not good. I've been playing around with the idea of buying a 2002 4 runner from a guy at work. that would turn into a very expensive purchase with you as a role model

Do It! Over time I realized that this thing will make a much better wheeler/trail rig than the blue truck. Few reasons why, one it's smaller, two I'm going to build it more, and 3 it's a 5k rig instead of a 30k rig so I really don't care as much about keeping her all pretty. :D

I have to say that I was never a fan of speedway blue. In fact....I hated it! But this truck is absolutely amazing! Andrews...yours is actually in second place in my book as well. Dying to see what becomes of the 4runner. I had a sweet 96 limited that I sold with only 65k miles and I am still kicking myself till this day for doing it!
Also....Cmack....how did you get the red rep bar? Is that a sign of holier than thou thing or something?

Well got the lift and tires on finally. :D

She's sitting a little high in the rear right now, but these springs are so soft it should settle down pretty close to even with a little time and the added weight of the bumper, swingarm, and spare.

Front springs from an LX450. They are really soft and will settle alot when I weigh the back down with a bumper, swingarm, spare and tools. Heck it sits down 3/4" just by me climbing in the back.

1" Saved me from having to tub the firewall. I'll be doing a 1" drivetrain lift in the future.

For reference Dave's 4th gen has a 3" lift and 285's on it and as you can see in the pic I'm a little bit taller.
