I have a chance to purchase a Firestone air bag kit (new) for my tacoma for 135.00 ( good price)
I've never used an air bag system and was curious if that system is a good choice?

    Thanks guys.

I have had my kit install for a while now and I love them. You can fine tune them to your needs and that is a very good price.

It's one of the best mods I ever did. I use mine pretty often, towing and hauling junk.

Their basic kit just has the air line going to a tire inflator doohicky. That gets to be a pain in the ass if you use it often. So I got their compressor kit also. You might want to consider down the road.

Ok guys sounds good, I do have one more question is your suspension stock?

I have a 3in lift on front and 2in blocks in rear.
While I have towed my camper with that set up I'm curious if you need anything else to install because of the lift because of the slight change in the rear with the 2 in blocks.

    Thanks.

I think with 2" blocks in the rear you'll be okay without any extra modifications, but you could always add Daystar cradles if you're unsure and need the full range of travel.

Also, +1 for the Firestone bags. I've had these installed for about a year now and they were absolutely worth it. It should be a stock option from the factory.

I used the t-junction and put the valve in the driver-side storage pocket of the bed. Easy to get at without crawling in the bed or under the truck, and keeps it clean from the elements.

Most recommend not using the T piece because it allows air to shift from bag to bag. So if the load shifts the air in the bags shifts opposite of what you actually want.

I mounted my air filler valves on the trailer hitch plug mount

Definitely split them. I had mine together and the air shifted to easily to the wrong side ---- BUT much better for 4 wheeling (allows a flex).

I have been considering this set up for my 13 DCSB, I have helper springs on now, and Timbren bump stops, I did this cuz I tow a 24' camper. This set up functions well, but the ride isn't great when I'm not towing the camper, Where did you get the set up for that price and what set up did you get...part number...

I think I remember the ubolt flip kit and air bags combined making for a tricky job to complete. That would be my ideal scenario in a perfect world.

I have a local ebay seller that buys old new stock and store closing stock.
He had the set in box, so a little exception to a normal sale.
I did buy the kit it was delivered yesterday.

I have 2 inch block in rear and I RideRite airbags work fine. They added another inch of lift at 15 pounds. Mine hold their pressure and work great. I love them.

I called firestone and they gave me an additional part number for a mount plate if I had those 2in blocks. So you are saying save my money and just install the kit as it comes?

interesting... I have a stock riderite kit installed. I had no issues with mounting. Are you sure they understand you have blocks under the springs and not AAL or something? if you have a lift that is a stronger leaf pack you would need a special upper mount bracket because the distance between the spring and the frame is greater than stock. I never really paid attention to it because my issue was saggy springs.

let me know what mounting bracket they are talking about.

hmmm... I think I see what they do and I think I need them :) I would say get them. I may get them too. Looks like they connect to the lower bracket and bridge the gap between the bracket and the axle. the bag does not sit completely on the spring, it is offset. looks like the bracket should rest on the axle and with the blocks it is not. It has not caused an issue on mine in 6 months but it is putting a level of stress on the bracket that probably should not be there.

    thanks for the heads up.
