so like, if I put my stock leaf packs back on and instead use a 2'' block, that's gonna be a great back massage right?

Only picture I have under load where you can kind of see the bump stop to LCA pad spacing on my phone right now. At the moment I'm in the office and can't run out to my truck.

This looks very normal to me. Mine has around that much space between the. Bumpstop and the LCA (from what I can tell on the photo)

Nah people just need to justify their purchase as they dropped a decent chunk on them and thus theirs has to be the best, then toxic masculinity steps in and everything else must then be shit.

I wanted to get Kings because they "float" but I got to ride on a truck on a recent trip with Icons loved them, thought the king's I rode in were too rolly, but great offroad, kinda scary on road and higher speed stuff to me though.

Icons seem great I think the Foxes are a satisfactory middle ground.

You can't get suspension off reading on the internet you really got to meet some people are ride, it's just SO subjective and everyone describes it differently.

I ended up with Fox DSC's thanks to available and time constraint and I'm happy with them when the DSC's are set to firm.

Pretty sure I'll Love them when I get 14" 700# coils, the ones I'm going to get are kings, then I can combine my kings with my foxes and say I ride Koxes.

That sounds wrong if you say it out loud... :D

I'm not brand loyal I just go for quality price and availability, usually in that order. :notsure:

To you it probably wouldn't be. I'm coming from the perspective of only ever driving stock vehicles, apart from this thing for awhile...

I'm sure if I got kings or fox or whatever I'd have the same opinion about my current set up as y'all. But its as far as I'm wanting to go financially for a daily driver, got other toys I invest in. Lucky for me, tacoma stock suspension is such shit it sure feels like an upgrade here

yea your right. bad wording on my part, but a lot of people always advise that a firm ride will be "harsh".

    You know what's funny?

I search with google a lot for issues as TW's search is... awful... and sometimes I end up on Tundra Talk, T4R org, FJ Cruiser, and Land Cruiser places and of course here.

    My observation is that:

TW: Loves Kings, Fox is meh and Icon is trash

Tundra forms: Love Fox, Icon are meh and King is trash

T4R and other forums: Loves Icon, king is meh, and Fox is trash

The most hilarious thing to me is the 4th and 5th gen 4Runner, the FJ Cruiser, the 1st gen Tundra, and The Land Cruiser 100 and Prado and the 2nd and 3rd gen Tacoma are all practically THE SAME DAMN TRUCK.

And yet every group seems to have it's rather strict bias.

I was sucked into being set on Kings thanks to the opinions here, but after seeing it goes around and around while searching and some rather informed article by @AccuTune Offroad I took a gamble with Fox and feel like I won.

To be fair I loved my 887's and 5100's (on the second knot h no less, I don't recommend that though) never felt like I needed my sway bar and liked the ride definite improvement over stock both on and off road.

It's just that having never ridden in a "mid travel" truck after I put my coil overs on I knew exactly where all my money went and why people pay as much as they do for them.

It all just clicked and they really are worth it to me, though probably excessive for most people.

LOL this is entirely true. I have noticed other forums like the FJ cruiser and land cruiser ones loving ICON. Its kind of interesting to see actually, all the differences and such.

This is just a general statement to some of the comments I saw, but going with a heavier weight coil to make the ride firmer is just a band aid and not the correct way. Generally speaking, you want the lightest coil you can get that supports your weight, and then change the tuning of the shock to get the kind of ride you want.

I'm currently running Kings with 600 lb coils and I have about ~190 lbs up front between my bumper/winch/IFS skid. The coil handles the weight fine (i.e. supports the weight without crazy preload) but it is a very soft ride. That's ok though, they'll get sent to Accutune to get tuned soon and then I'll get the best of both worlds. A nice soft ride while also being controlled. Or if someone wanted a firmer ride, that could be done via a tune as well.

Here is a great article on the subject.

Oh, I never answered the actual question though. I prefer a really soft setup. It rides nice on-road, the body roll doesn't bother me, and it's great for the crawling I do. It helps the front end articulate very easily. It can still handle washboard type roads at speed without bottoming out as well, though sizable bumps/dips I'll hit bumps. The fancy tune from accutune should solve that though, to some extent.
