Bit of a collision between me and a new Honda Pilot. Mostly just here to vent, lol. Why can’t people yield, or pay attention a bit more carefully? My insurance puts her at blame.. guess we will see.

You call that a wreck? Looks like you hit a shopping cart. :)

Luckily its still driveable. Be careful when giving a statement, rehearse your statement and do not divert from that when speaking to the adjuster. If they try to assert any fault on your part, get an attorney. Otherwise wait for their estimate, but always counter the first offer with a higher estimate from a friendly shop. At the end of the day, youll get your truck fixed and have a little walking around money for your trouble.

From first hand experience fixing a front end on a 1st gen, you can get the parts to fix this for well under $500+paint.

haha. I guess not terrible but I just hate everything was lined up perfect and still original.. but I’m sure I’ll get it back right soon enough. I just had to pull my bumper a bunch to get it home it was pushed up against my tire.

Thanks for the insight and info. Appreciate it. My insurance said obviously based on my story (and photos of the scene) I’m not at fault or will be taking blame. But haven’t heard from her insurance yet.

    Just follow your insurance adjuster.

Get the estimate, then let your insurance wrangle with the other driver's insurance.

I’ve had a couple close calls lately that have made me rethink my driving mindset.

People were already dangerous assholes before the whole lockdown but now they’re nearing suicidal maniacs. So many folks are being pushed to the brink and I think it’s important to factor that in while driving or even just being in public.

This might not even be relevant to your fender bender but just wanted to remind everyone to be careful out there.

This is why I drive a truck. Kid driving daddy's car wasn't paying attention on the freeway when traffic stopped.

You can see where my trailer hitch contacted. I walked away with some (new) scratches on my hitch. Still got $600+ (cash) from his insurance for my bumper, though. Still got that same bumper. I think I spend the money on beer.

This is accurate. Just a couple days ago I saw a guy almost roll a newer FJ cruiser trying to make it through a yellow light on a left hand turn. He absolutely got the front driver’s side tire off the ground and it got dicey when he landed again. The car stopped next to me saw it all too. People skipped throwing caution to the wind and just tossed it into a black hole.

Idiots in BMWs are positively everywhere. The more expensive the car, the less competent and aware the driver is. Change my mind. Stupid ass was probably duck facing his worthless life away on tiktok.

I agree there is that kind of mentality, but I see it with all vehicle types. I see mouth breathers in rusted out dodge pickups do the same thing.

If anything, I see people drive their expensive cars TOO conservatively. God forbid someone get within 800 meters of them on the highway.

Yes drive like you've never done before...

If they total your classic Tacoma......it will be like having a second accident....
when you get the settlement offer.....

My 98 has been hit three times in last 15 mo.....all somewhat minor,
all the times it was parked, in street and retail lots....

Only time I was present, they were illegal and had no insurance.

Last was a scape on front chrome bumper...

This is my favorite truck on the forum. Love that color. It’s hard to drive them and keep them nice. Glad you weren’t hurt.

Thanks everyone for comments. It’s a wild world, the lady was adamant about blaming me and saying I was in the wrong. I think many people are on edge and an accident like this doesn’t help. Things will work out in the end and hopefully Looking good as new!!

Thanks a lot! I really only drive the Taco on the weekends to try to keep it nice. But yeah, that’s the biggest thing, no one was hurt. Just a little upset lol.

I also have a 90 Mustang 350 hp and I can never understand how come my Tacoma gets more respect Just got a 99 Jeep TJ that I rebuilt, and painted in the garage
Even though the damage is small they might total your truck because cost to fix may be more than the trucks value. Depends on whats under there

My thoughts too. It sucks. They value these trucks at like 5k or less sometimes. But I could sell it for quite a bit more.
