my guess is you cant even buy back the wrecked vehicle after taking the settlement on the cheap like the 'old' days....
salvage parts on these are like gold.....
so you'd probably have to give up all your pitiful settlement just to out bid the salvage.....
most likely you're not even given a choice.....I wasnt on the prius.....
the parts were worth way more than what they gave us.....(farmers)....
and they tried to weasel out the claim to begin with....2mo's haggling..
and yes on the older vehicles they total them at the drop of a hat....

No shit. They offer three grand, and sell the motor for three grand. Look at the guy on here paying $23000 for a used motor. Rear end for $800. Maybe you can ask for more.

This guy is dealing with my biggest fear, and my quest for a million miles. Someday me/or somebody will wreck my beloved truck that has been a part of me for so many years. In the end leaving me with a pathetic check for three grand, and having to buy a used Tacoma that I don't even like for twenty three thousand dollars. Not to mention a payment for four hundred dollars a month. God bless first generations, and may they live forever!!!

Hopefully it won’t be as bad as we think. Jury is still out on whether she’s at fault (even if we know the other driver is) if that’s the case and we each have to take care of our own repairs that’s honestly maybe better in the sense I don’t have to deal with values and possibility of a total loss. Then I’d just repair on my own dime and keep a clean title. I’d obviously like a check to help offset my cost but I’m sure that won’t come easy.

It looks like you may have to do some primative bending inside. The hood looks ok...Is it, because that would be a big win.

thankfully no hood damage. Will have to massage out some metal where the fender bolts up.. along with around the bumper area but nothing that should be a big issue.

That is a very cool truck...Maybe you will get a check so you can at least paint the area...Should be interesting. You could get lucky, but in this age of insurance I doubt it.
