I have one on my 2013 Ram 1500 hemi. It catches a couple ounces of fluid every 5000 miles. Worth getting one imo. Hoping someone comes out with a bolt on catch can for the 3.5. Paid $135 for the billet technologies catch can for my hemi and it was worth every penny

why can't you just vent the PCV output under the truck? Does it know it's not going into the intake tract?

I run a Mighty Mouse can on my car. They are well worth it. The Tacoma will get one too!

    Is Radium a decent brand?
Would the crankcase vent benefit from one?
Would a deeper one be preferable, if you off road(steep angles) and would like to go 5,000 miles between changes? Do they have some kind of anti-siphon?

I had a Moromoso 85481 installed on my 2005 4Runner up until selling it this past March.
Drains were easy with the built in lever ball valve. Did it during gas fill ups usually (kept a 1 QT empty bottle in the truck to hold the catch until I could recycle it), super conveinent. I did it every gas fillup until I figured out how much the engine was trying to recycle back to the top end... eventually, I realized I needed to empty the Moromoso every 2500 miles. (I used my Odometer B trip to monitor the moromoso, I used my trip A odomoter to hand calculate my mpg)... Obviously it goes without saying that if you're removing oil with a separator like this, you'll need to add oil back in to maintain the correct level.

Needless to say, I'm a believer in installing one of these to keep the intake and top end of any engine as carbon/buildup/ sludge free as possible. If you're gonna spend $30-40K on a brand new direct injection truck, what's another $150-175 or so?...

I also installed these neo magnetics on the oil filter and all the drain plugs... it's amazing how much stuff they captured during services compared to the old ones they replaced. The black hole oil filter magnets really are amazing! I cut open oil filters to compare it was scary how much more the one with magnets caught. Again, another minor $150 investment to help protect the drivetrain of a vehicle is a no brainer in my eyes.

Very interesting...would anyone be willing to do a video or a step by step pics process of this or is there a good video online? Seem like something worthwhile and relatively easy (i've never done it so I don't know) and ther is space to do it. I like the Moroso with the drain valve idea.

You actually could probably get away with fooling the computer if you plugged the vacuum on the other side. Cars in the 1950's-1960's did this, it was called a road draft tube.

When its unplugged the vapours coming out would have to be routed under your car and then you would never have to undercoat your car.

I posted a bunch of pics, its really not that hard, you just have to make a bracket to offset the oil separator as the factory threaded holes are over the fuse box. Thats why I made the plate, to move it down. This oil separator was on my 2012 Camaro 6.2L V8, then went to the FJ cruiser, and now the tacoma, The Brand is elite engineering. Its made very well. Its the Camaro one and I just fabricated the brakes to make it fit. I'll post some pics of where the lines actually connect to the engine.

The first picture shows both lines, one go to the intake manifold, you can see it in the first picture (I gotta learn how to write and draw on pictures). On the second picture you can see the line goes to the valve cover. Basically you take off the rubber line that goes from valve cover to intake and route the oil separator in between. This separator catches a lot so its a good one. I think most that have baffles and some mesh are pretty good. This one is billet machined and the bottom just unscrews (its sealed with a rubber o-ring)

I'll be curious just how much oil is collected. With using a quality synthetic, and inherently less volatility (NOACK), will this motor pull less oil through the PCV system. I like the looks of the black ADD W1 unit.

When it's cold the separator actually pulls a lot as it takes the moisture out. So if you do short trips when your engine doesn't run hot for a while it can really help. It's quite watery in the separator when it's cold so I empty it about every 2 weeks. That was on the FJ 4.0 L V6. On this one we will see. But if it's pulling stuff out its working.

I wonder with the "valve cleaning technology" Toyota designed in this engine will eliminate the need for a catch can. Be interesting to learn how much it collects

Even with valve cleaning technology, I think its better to have a clean intake track. Oil separators don't do any damage, so for me I want the cleanest air going into my engine. As previously mentioned, if you do short trips you get moisture in the system, the oil separator will remove the moisture the Toyotas "valve cleaning technology" will not.

It was funny because on my Camaro, the exhaust tips took forever to get a carbon build up on them when running the oil separator so I knew it was running clean.

or you could just not route the pcv into the intake TRACT
