Well I am 1000 miles in and have my first complaint. The clutch does not function properly in cold weather. The last two morning here in Nevada it has been -7° and 0° Fahrenheit. When I start the truck in the morning the clutch is lethargic and almost sticks to the floor. Once the truck warms up a bit it seems to start operating normal again.

You can pump it a few times to get the fluid moving a little.

Do you know what fluid is in there now. They make ones for cold weather.

Manual says this fluid for the clutch: FMVSS No. 116 DOT 3 or SHE J1703

Anyone know what the temp rating is for this fluid? And what a cold weather replacement may be?

This morning my half hour commute did not really warm up the clutch enough. Still sluggish and briefly sticking at the bottom. Temps were 0° when I started off and -4° once at the office.

You could just move to where it warmer lol

I haven't had to look into different fluids in years so I'm not up to speed on them all now a days. I'd contact one of the guys who do the Arctic expeditions. Those guys will know for sure. I know their is a shop that builds arctic trucks. I'd look them up and make a phone call.

I looked up the fluid rating. Should be good to -40° Fahrenheit. That should not be the issue. Anyone else have any ideas?

This will not cut it as I will have mornings for the next 3 months that are between -25° and +15°.

It's not the fluid, take it to the dealer to get it checked out.

Is it sluggish or slipping? If it's slipping that a disk issue.

Sluggish. It works fine to engage/disengage gears. It just gets much stiffer to push and will briefly stick at the bottom of its throw.

If you really don't believe it's a fluid issues it could possibly be the slave cylinder. When cold the metal contracts and sticks. Tolerance may be to tight.

Yeah I will. I Just like to have an idea of what I am dealing with before I start haggling with them.

That's what the warranty is for. But still nice to try and figure out what's going on. Problem solving if sometimes.

Could be, or the grease used is not up to par for cold weather.

Not much help, but I've had a few recent days of low teens and single digits with no drama. I start from a warm garage, but then park at 11,000' for several hours and come back to a very cold rig. Its worked fine from cold then, even though it took a long time to warm up the engine with miles of downhill and no load on it. Clutch has felt the same regardless of temp.

What is the temperature when its parked at 11000? I did not have any issues when the temperature was above 20 degrees

0-10 above zero. I haven't seen anything below zero yet this season

I don't have a garage to park in during the night my wife uses that space. So mine is sitting outside with temperatures between 20 and 0 from the time I get home until the time I leave again.

Yours definitely has more time to cool down than what I'm experiencing
