Try to find a dye for the dash. I'm pretty sure they're available. May not be a perfect match, but it'll look better than that. Or just slap a sticker over it, lol

To give you a little more info... I buy the 90915-YZZD3 filters. They're the same diameter as the ones that come on our trucks, but slightly taller. Whether or not the increased size has much effect on the filtration is debatable, but for a couple extra bucks I get the bigger one.

You can buy a case of 90915-YZZD1 filters on ebay for $38 shipped. They are the size that came on the truck originally.

The repair guy my insurance hired used a small torch and a textured pad to fix gouges in the ABS on my previous taco after the stereo got torn out.

Procedure was to heat the plastic to soften it then roll/press the texture over the soft spot to smooth out the gouges. This may not be a great DIY without seeing a demo or detailed instructions (more detailed than I can recall from just watching onece more than 10 years later). Either a stereo shop or body shop might be able to put you in touch with someone who can do it fairly cheap, no parts required and probably less than 1hr labor, although you might run up against min charges for a job this small.

Won't it be funny when I post back and tell you how I lit my dash on fire!

AS far as a bigger filter. If toyota makes a taller filter, why wouldnt they use it on the truck? Perhaps there are trade offs?
