Ugh. I live in a suburb that thinks too highly of itself and requires gas stations to look pretty. Just went to get gas, opened my door, and BAM hit one of those stupid little steel/concrete bumper columns that protect the pump...it was hidden, painted dark brown to match the aesthetics of the rest of the structure. Not only that, but it was formed and "pretty" rounded steel, so one spot of the bumper stuck out more than the rest, and I hit it with the very rear edge of my door, so all the force got concentrated on the back edge and not only nicked the paint to the metal but also bent the edge of my door a little. I've only had this new truck a few weeks!

How did your 3rd gen get its first ding? I wish I had a better story.

Via car attempting to cross 6 lanes of traffic. Didn't make it and I took their whole rear bumper off. Could have been a t-bone to the drivers door if I hadn't hit the brakes in time or swerved. Mustang probably wouldn't have even touched it with its brakes but that's not what I was in of course.

It's fine now but there is one new small dent on the bedside from who knows what. Probably school parking lot or something would be my guess.

I'll play. One week ago, a kid mowing the grass at work decided to try and mow under my bumper, didn't work. He admitted it. Looks like it's going to be $540 to fix it.

Difficult to teach an old dog new tricks. I was backing up in my back yard, and had looked in both side mirrors and my rear view mirror. Everything looked clear to me. Bang, I hit my concrete birdbath. Not used to using the back up camera. The birdbath sits lower than the tailgate. It put a small dent in the right side of the plastic chrome bumper. I could have avoided the damage if I had only used the back up camera. The dent is very small, but I know it is there.

Took my daughter to dance recital, dropped her off and parked in the last spot next to curb. A guy pulled in next to me, his wife opened her door into my passenger door. My truck was 3 hours old.

Wow. I always try to park next to the curb, but have been unlucky too.

Mine legitimately got attacked by a Bear within the first Month I had it.. Apparently they are migrating because of heat here in Colorado.
    Sucks big time.

Now see, that makes an awesome tale to tell. Your grandkids will appreciate it. And in a couple of years of actually using it as a truck, you will enjoy the story too.

I mean the OP whacked a 'camouflaged' barrier that keeps knuckleheads from driving over gas pumps. That's not interesting. A bear attack is interesting.

No offense OP. My '13 is ding free. However, I wiped out the passenger door on a flower pot I didn't see......... So I just replaced it (the door, not the truck). Good news is white is easy to match. So I'm still ding free. At a price. :(

Last month I stopped off one afternoon to pick up some groceries and when I came out there was a nice dent across the rear drivers side panel. The SOB took off and there were no witnesses, about $2K in damages. I now park way at the end of the lot.
