So I got into PC gaming in 2000 having gone through all consoles as a kid. I remember reading about Hitman: Codename 47 and so wanted to play it. That's the game that got me into PC gaming. I was just wondering if anybody remembers what game got them interested in gaming on the PC. Having flashbacks of 2000 cause I'm building another PC for Fallout 4.

I got into PC games as a freshman in college, playing the original Half-Life and Counter-Strike on a Pentium 4 "student" Dell (2002-2003). I received a new Dell in 2004 as part of a student PC exchange program (faster P4) and slowly upgraded it with a new video card and more RAM through the releases of HL2, CS:Source, DoD:Source, BF2, and CoD to name a few. I finally built my first PC in 2006 (Core 2 E6600/GTX 8600). I've built two since then; a first gen i7 with a few different video/RAM/HD configurations, and most recently a 4790K with 16GB DDR3 2400, GTX 970, and 500GB SSD.

I tossed around building one for F4, but I just can't get away from consoles... I built my first one for Skyrim. Finally gonna pull the trigger on a PS4 and a new 60" though.

Nice! Your last build is close to what I'm building now but with a Zotac GTX 980 Ti Amp! Extreme.

First PC I bought for games was back in 1983/4. Commodore 64. Built my first PC later. It was fast! A 386 PC. Had 256k of memory and a 4 MB hard drive.

First PC I upgraded for a game was a 486 DX 100 Mhz. Upgraded for the new Wing Commander, by Origin. That might of been in 1990-ish?

Wolfenstein 3D. Ancient game but was considered state of the art for PC in that day. Built a 286-SX16 with 1 meg of ram and a 40 meg hard drive. Now THAT dates me there. Hahaha

Funny how, to this day, even later versions of the Elder Scrolls games have yet to have a 3D mapping feature for dungeon crawling that's worth a shit. NO game ever does.

    Daggerfall's was AWESOME

    Yes sir
Haha, about to start building a pc instead of buying a PS4, only thing is I'm disappointed that uncharted 4 is exclusive to playstation. I played the 2nd and 3rd on my PS3 and still love them. I loved playing warcraft III, age of empires II, and halo 1 back in the early 2000's

built my first gaming desktop 3 years ago when i graduated college.....for elder scrolls online which was a flop....play heroes of the storm and diablo 123. Age of empires was my first pc game way back when. But like others have said xbox had me at the start....halo then halo 2 which started the world on fire for competitive multiplayer. Missed out on a lot of action with girls because of that game when i was in middle/high school.

Somewhere around 2008 or so we got a "gaming laptop" for the household pc. I never did much gaming on it but played a few free/cheap games (runescape, GunZ, Diablo II and FarCry 2)
I loved FarCry 2 so much, that I went and bought FarCry3 assuming my ultra badass gaming laptop from 2008 could handle it. Nope, not one bit. So I taught myself by reading articles online about building computers during finals week of senior year (had no finals) and built it that summer. I never did put a disc drive in, so a friend gave me Skyrim and I played the hell out of it for months and months and months.

So essentially, I built it for Skyrim! And am still using it, have since got FarCry3 again and beat it. I am considering putting a few Metal Gear Solid games on it but that is the one and only game I prefer to play with a controller.

    What haven’t I changed?
When I was a kid I had a 386DX 33MHz that I played various games on (Doom, Wolf3d, Commander Keen, etc.), but the first PC that I technically built was for Unreal Tournament in 2000 (AMD Athlon 700MHz, GeForce DDR). Since then I appear to be on a 6-year upgrade cycle with my current rig being an Intel i7-920 with Geforce GTX 980Ti (started with a Geforce 9800GT, then GTX 570). Looking to move up to Skylake in the next month or so.
