moved to Vegas from Long Beach recently. My AC has always been just fine.
This week I drove in a 2006 duramax diesel truck that would freeze meat in the cab, made me realize my AC is nowhere in the same league.

2003 prerunner, takes a bit to get cold if the truck has been sitting in the sun, but does ok. I realize when the temp outside is under 105, I am content with its performance. This week we had many days of 114 and 115. The AC in my truck just can't keep up with that.

I have never had the system re charged. Is this something I should have done.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, I am not a fan of 115 outside and 95 in the cab.

If it works, but not sufficiently during 100+ days, it likely needs a recharge, all systems slowly leak over time.

I just recharged my 2002 Accord and it had 60% charge, now in this stupid heat it performs WAY better.

Tell me please please please... how can I get outa California and go to vegas to get a job and a place to stay fuck California lol we got our ups and downs,

I just finished my AC in my truck it was hell without it I whent through one 100+ weekend and wasnt happy when I fully charged my AC by myself with the freon cans from autozone,

I noticed that when I put a nig bottle and one of the mid size bottles that my AC would freeze the fuck out of me and I'd have to turn it down even with it being 110 outside,

Recently the line I tried to replace busted again and I re did a lot of threads and tephlon taped it, so that being said I had zero Freon in my system, I filed up with one midsize bottle in going to see how it lasts for one week if I have no issues then I'll put another bottle in that has a gauge !!

My AC now dosent work how I want it to and I know it's not working the same my buddy who drives with me and helped get it back together with me, he says it's working fine to me it's good but because before it was working so much better I really just want to fill up my system 100%

Your AC should blow colder than shit if it has the right amount of freon,

And do you have a scan gauge that tells you the exact temp of your truck? Mine gets to 222 if I idle it in 113 degree weather for a while but won't get hot on the dash after I replaced fan clutch, 191-198 is where my truck likes to be in hot hot weather if your getting better temps with AC then I know I need to do my timing belt water pump thermostat etc

I could no longer take the liberal capital of the world, closed a good fab business in signal hill and headed to Vegas.
Vegas wages are low, and people don't want to pay for skilled labor.

I literally left 2 jobs in 2 weeks. Finally in the right place at the right time and got a job doing fab for a rigging company. Have my own air conditioned shop .

    F Los Angeles.

Anyway, going to have someone drain the entire system, check for leaks and re charge. No bueno right now in 115 degree weather.

Had a mechanic tell me that the do it yourself cans of freon are not actually freon but LP gas without the smell. He does AC work so Im not sure he was being truthful about it.

If your AC system is opened to the atmosphere at any time, thats a bad thing, air gets in, air contains moisture, and moisture + refrigeration systems = no bueno.

That being said, I have an issue with my AC that I hope hasn't already been addressed somewhere else. I got sick of looking though so I thought I'd just ask.

I have an 03 Tacoma with the 3.4 and my vents blow hot air. The AC blows fairly cold, sometimes. I noticed that if I jiggle the temp selector knob then it will start blowing cold. But sometimes it will switch back to blowing hot air on its own and I jiggle the knob again and it goes back to cold.

Also, if the ac is off and the temp selector knob is set to coldest then it usually blows warm to hot air

Any advice is appreciated, these hot Utah summers are not the time to have my vents blowing hot air.
    Thanks

I recently replaced all my AC components. I had a shop evacuate the old refrigerant. When I was done they pulled a vacuum, tested for leaks and recharged. $450 total.

You did pull a vacuum on the system before filling it right? Air in the system is no good. It wont cool as good and can cause havoc on you compressor.

When its blowing hot air check the heater valve to see were the lever is positioned. (heater valve is center of engine bay on firewall. Right above engine. Then wiggle the knob when it starts blowing cold check valve position again. You may have a bad temp controller.

It seems like some do and some don't. Where I live O'reilly's doesn't but Autozone does.

    SF Bay area.

I also considered the Harbor Frieght one and selling it once I was done with it. For $40 that sounds like a good route.
