    Hey all,

I've been having this sound the first time I turn her over, it might do it again if I turn it over again immediately but if I drive for a while, make a stop, the sound may or may be not be there.

Originally the sound was like the sound of a seat belt, burlap, canvas or cotton strap quickly slipping over the edge of a wooden box or corner. Today it just got worse, and it sounds like a great cry or wine mixed with that.

I originally thought it was a vacuum issue. Now I'm wondering if it's the starter? I've tightened all my belts. I've listened near the ADD actuator. I've listened near the intake. I can't track it down.

The recent job I did was I replaced the ADD actuator with a new one. The starter is a duralast I threw in there two or three years ago when I was stuck out of town and stopped at a AutoZone. If it is that, it would give me an excuse to get back that iconic Toyota starter sound I miss.

    Sound now: https://streamable.com/lzw31j

Any help would be great, otherwise I'm gonna have to roll around with the metal stethoscope. :bananadead:

Thanks @nd4spdbh , I was thinking similar. I wonder since the duralast has a life time warranty if I go to AutoZone and replace it with a new one if I can return it... Haha probably sell it on craigslist.

Thing was only 2 or 3 years old. The factory model lasted 17-18 years. I'd rather have the reliable part.
