I haven't done much auto mechanical work in my life, but seems like replacing front struts (on '97 SR5) is a job I can handle. If I replace them now, and later have someone remove the 2-inch body lift to get back to original ride height, will the struts need replacing. It doesn't appear that the lift kit has changed the size/length of the strut, but I'm not certain.

Also, I won't need a spring compression tool to remove old or install new struts, correct?

    Thanks.

LarryJ, not sure why this post was not ever answered :notsure:

what miles do you have on your SR5?
my front suspension is all original at 138k and am looking for the best way to go about new parts while keeping it stock height
what are you looking at doing? i think a spring compressor is required if you are putting in new factory shock absorbers up front
and maybe a new strut mount

i have heard you can also buy assemblies such as Monroe that just swaps in real easily without having to remove the coil spring
does your location have a lot of corrosive environmental elements?
