I dislike the second gen trail gear front bumpers but like the fisrt gen style. How much work would it take to fit one? Would it be to narrow?

Way too narrow. our 2nd gen bumpers are a good 6" wider than a 1st gen Tacoma.

That's a bummer :( I could tell they were more narrow. I wasn't expecting it to be that much though.

find a local fabricator, have them build one similar to the style you like?

^^^ this is what I did for my last truck.

I took cardboard, hot melt glue, masking tape and made a full size cardboard bumper compete with the mounts. I fit it to the truck and then removed it and had a local metal shop make it.

Was for a Dodge Cummins. I'd have to dig around for photos - not sure if I even have them anymore as its been 5 years since I sold it. I had them bend up the steel for the front as well.
