Love my TRD OR. What are you using to monitor transmission temperature?

The crowd you have attracted with this thread that actually own and drive a 3rd gen is made of people who are pretty happy with their trucks. Threads do tend to get derailed easily around here though

I think it’s because your experience is pretty average and there really isn’t anything to talk about. However everyone agrees your average speed is not average and thus the new topic of discussion.

Think of the positives, if we didn’t talk about it you’d have 5 responses and a dead thread! :) one thing TW does best is keep threads alive.

Oh I am well aware of this.
I was impressed with the MPG on this trip, but I came from a Dakota with the V8, so you can see how that made me feel.

I did my first short trip..127 miles each way when my truck had about 200 miles on it.

It's a V6 4X4 access cab. At 85 MPH it read it was averaging 20.7 MPG.

OP how flat was this trip? I haven't done any real highway yet (only like 10 mile stretches) but I have definitely not gotten that good of mileage out of my truck. Right now I seem to be getting 16 in town (likely self induced) and 19 on hwy. I will be doing about a 400 mile trip on it in a couple of weeks and I hope to get 20+.

I bought mine from out of state. That was about my average speed as well. Speed limit was 70 little over half the time and 80 for the rest. It did well on the highways. I did get some high-pitched whistling when I came across some heavy cross-winds. Other than that, plenty quiet for me.

A few small hills, not completely flat land, but definitely not talking any major inclines either. I could tell on some of the larger hills the truck wanted to stay in 6th, but upon coming up to it if I pressed the gas it would drop to 5th and no problems. I did not have any complaints on shifting or gear hunting.

I get the same mileage at 75-80 on our 130 85mph speed limit tollway. Down around 65 I am a constant 24-25 mpg. Love it!

Totally jealous. I never got better than 18 here in the flats of Michigan.

I get 19-20 all around in the Austin area but I never drive faster than 70mph. Hills, speed, and traffic, kill gas mileage in my truck but
it does great for an OR 4x4 in my opinion. We have however we've gone on some longer interstate hwy trips and I've seen 23-24.
(stock tires @ 30psi cold) Towing our travel trailer cuts that in half...

I got the same results with my Limited, except I carefully observe the
posted speed limit according to the laws of Texas and extend courteous, polite
    driving habits.

I thought the AT got a little better MPG at that speed than the 6MT with the higher gearing, especially 2WD?

EDIT: 500 miles on it, never mind. :headbang:
