People here seem to prefer bilstein 5100's with 886 coils and lift packages from Toytec than either of those two options you mentioned. I was looking at a similar 5100 lift with a Deaver add 3 progressive leaf spring add a leaf. I'm going to get some reservoir shocks instead, but performance oriented lifts are usually 2.75" or less unless going long travel or getting a spindle that provides lift.

Few things to keep in mind with a 3" lift: extended brake lines, brake proportioning valve relocation bracket, and axle shims / differential drop / carrier bearing drop spacers to keep the driveline geometry in spec to avoid vibrations.

King, Icon or Fox coilovers up front. Total chaos UCA's. Deaver leaves out back with shocks to match. 285/70/17s with either spacers or some aftermarket wheels with more offset. Alignment after install.

Maybe overkill for "very little off-roading" but it's what I'd do none the less.

You won't get a full 3" but Billstien 5100's with the OME 885 coils up front will get you damn near, throw in a bigger tire and you're good to go, but keep in mind that tire is going to rub some due to its width, so add a spacer behind the wheels.

For the rear, an add-a-leaf will probably be sufficient for you. You'll get the lift you're looking for without compromising your ride quality too much. It will be stiffer but not overly so.

Know that it will mean you've got to either get longer break lines or do the simpler option that I went with and space the rear mounting point up a little (pics on request). Generally, it's also recommended to shim the rear end to adjust the angle at the rear of the drive shat in order to get rid of any vibrations.

While that sounds like a lot, know that it can all be done wth only a few simple tools in any parking a lot (once changed my rear shocks at a hotel on vacation).

You don't need extended brake lines for a 3" lift, especially for someone doing "very little" offroading.

I have 3" out back and 2.5" up front and have no problems, as do many others.

You will definitely need UCAs, so keep in mind that by itself is $375 on the low end.

I guess you may not "need" to but I've seen people running three inches stretch them to the max on a trail.. Not required but recommended

He's not offroading to that extent, per his words.

And you definitely do NOT need UCA's. I've been running around a 4" for a year now, fully maxed my truck plenty of times and never touched the stock UCA's. And I'm running a 295/75/16.

No idea, I haven't bothered getting it re-done as my tires wear perfectly, the truck rides straight as can be and I have no shutters

    I assume you're 4x4, and not a 4x2 using Maxtrac spindles?

I think you have the only truck on the forum to be over 3" on stock UCAs and not have it drive like shit.

I needed UCAs at 1.75 and 265s, I need UCAs more at 2.5 and 265s.

That all aside, 99% assured OP will need UCAs, so I would still factor the price of them into his budget.

It may help that I took the sway bar off. I imagine that'd make the ride way worse as it'd be flexed out just sitting there

Sway bar doesn't have any effect on what your UCAs are capable of achieving.. I'd like to see alignment numbers, my truck seemed fine to drive also, but the alignment numbers sucked.

@jberry813 is it possible to be at 4"+ on stock UCAs and align well? Seems to defy every other member's experience with lifts.

Point taken, I was thinking more of how it handled on the road and not the affect on the UCA's. I am curious about my numbers, I just don't trust a shop to mess with my truck so I go with the , ain't broke don't fix it style
