My 2012 access cab 4x4 4.0 6speed would climb this same hill in 6 th gear with the cruise set at any speed above 60 and not even hesitate to maintain speed or need a lower gear

I had my Taco at the dealership for a week so they could test the shifting/fluid etc. I actually talked with the Toyota Master tech that worked on my Taco. He was trained by Toyoto and attended the update factory classes on the 3.5 engine. He personally checked my tranny fluid level and it was full.

He was very aware of the shifting issues of the new Taco. The power band range and gearing allow the Taco to get good mileage, but detract from the power when at higher speeds such as 75 mph.

He also stated that using the ECT button turns off all the "ECO" on the engine like the Atchinson cycle.

    Good to know, Thanks Sam!
Interesting you still have problems with the tranny full on ATF. I wonder if he rebooted the PCM software?
If not, I would try and disconnect the negative battery terminal for 20-30 min, but the down side is all the short term learn parameters would be gone and you start over. It may take up 2-3 days to relearn...Bummer!
Bottom line on ETC & power is you can't have both, power and decent fuel economy on a normally aspirated petro engine. Or at least not yet. We may have to wait for the full electric or hydro plants lolo!
    Cheers!

moab4x432,... I would guess that your tranny is low.... Have it checked properly or do it yourself... It should not do what you show in that video. Did you show that video to the dealer..????

    Good luck. :canada:

It's been at the dealer all day. So we will see what happens . I've had the fluid checked twice now which supposedly takes 2 hours to do. I haven't ever looked into what it involves

Good luck man... I'll bet that IF they actually check it properly...it will be low more than 3/4 QT... Mark my works..!!

They already tried to sell me on the duct tape fix for the kazoo , and I told them duct tape and bailing wire might be acceptable for a ford but not my Toyota .
He didn't seem very amused but he isn't the one paying $40k for something needing duct tape fixes

Do you have the tow package? It has a tranny cooler.
