Visiting Moab from CO next week. If we are rocking a stock 3rd gen tacoma with larger tires and renting a wrangler, what are the best off-roading options?

I've seen people on here recommend:
    Gemini Bridges
    Long Canyon
    Potash Road

What can I really expect from any of these- worth doing? Also, would eye of the whale be worth doing, or is that area better to hike? Some also said heading into Moab from route 128 is the best option.

The plan is to disburse camp somewhere as well...recommendations welcome. Thank you!

As far as camping, there's a cool spot around Chicken Corner. It has a U-shape to it that looks out towards the river.

All three of those are pretty easy.
Have you thought about a day pass on the White Rim? Lathrop canyon is a fairly easy ride down to the river.

White Rim trail is great. And you can camp over night with a permit.

That trail looks awesome. The only thing is we wanted to just find a camping spot, setup for 2 days, then hike arches one day and offroad another.

That's a good plan. I don't know Moab too well, so I will defer to others. That would be hard with White Rim Trail. You can spend a couple days just driving it. Arches is very close though. We did Arches one day, then drove White Rim Trail the next two days. In my limited experience, there are no bad options out there. Everything was amazing.

There is some dry camping at Willowspring Road. Also for trails, I would try Fins and Things. Fun trail with lots of different type of features, We usually do it for a shake down trail before doing some of the other trails. Depending on driving skills, you can also give Hells Revenge a try, there are some harder features but there are go arounds. There are other trails like Golden spike, Poison Spider, Metal Masher, Prichett Canyon, Moab Rim, Etc. I see someone recommended Gemini Arches, You can hit Gold Bar Rim, Goldenspike and Metal Masher. They are all in the general area. I don't know your skill levels, or how long of a run you are looking to do. Just shoot me a PM.

Does anyone have any experience with the top of the world trail in December? Is it rideable?

If you're renting a Wrangler you could take that on Fins and Things, but I wouldn't take a stock Tacoma on it. Need clearance for some of the rocky steep climbs. Didn't need to use my armor on it but I'm lifted on 33s.

Its not stock if you have skids and sliders though ;) I haven't don't TOTW so I can't speak to it, but Fins and Things is a pretty easy moderate trail if you have some wheeling experience under your belt. Without a lift though I wouldn't try it especially without sliders. We took some of the harder lines though.

You're right. With all the weight(decked and camper shell too), I was below stock height suspension  This was also my first time "wheeling". I was lucky to have some great spotters. I was really amazed at what the truck did though. I'm now lifted, so maybe I can stay off my skids

    Virgin...for now!
I’m currently on the kokopelli trail right now (amazing there’s internet). Camping near overlook campground.

Aside from WildPeak AT tires and bead locking rims, I’m a stock 3rd gen OR.

Will I be able to make it to MOAB or should I bail to the Highway now ? I don’t plan on doing TOTW, since I’m alone and want to get a few more mods to attempt it.

    Thanks !
