I've finally purchased my first new truck. I quit smoking so decided to treat my self, so after proper research I had a budget a must have list. And definite deal breakers. I'm a mechanic by trade and worked on all different kinds of cars over the years, all said and done I wound up with a 2019 yota taco TRD Off Road and couldn't be happier. I thought I'd miss the V8 power coming from 5.3l silverado 8ft bed single cab that hauled ass. I am very surprised to my delight that is not the case. And it came equipped with all the off road options I wanted and all the ones i didn't know I needed. Only having it a week I haven't gotten to enjoy the off road equipment fully but I have gotten her dirty and am blown away at how well she handled everything so far. True Toyota convert.

Will, I went with tonneau cover and hated it. I have it leaning against the shop now. I got lucky and found a used ARE camper shell that matched my truck and really like it a lot.

Thanks for the Welcome. I had a black steel diamond plate box in back of my chevy, t was one of those love hate things, I do miss option to store stuff in bed and be weather proof, I have A lot of tools I leave in my truck. Really love having a decent sounding exhaust especially since still hunting for that sweet spot in rpm range. Forgot to mention labor is not an issue since I work on cars for a living. It's just limited time do to 2 kids in separate sports/dance

Thanks for the advice, steps I was looking at are more sliders, I like the off road toughness and look. I've had my eye at for bed mat. Had to go back to the dealer for floor mats couldn't get them to throw one in.

Got the wife a wrangler unlimited was aware of jeep following. I had no idea Taco roots ran so deep. It is a double edged sword of knowledge and power. I have 24/7 access to my shop and lift this could make for an interesting relationship if ever find the time with 2 young kids running us ragged.

Hey Will, congrats on the taco and quitting smoking. I have a tonneau as well as sliders. I like both. If you get a tonneau, make sure you can easily remove it. I take mine off fairly regularly.

I appreciate all the advice. There's one pretty big thing about my Taco I don't quite understand in 2019. I know I work on cars for a living I'm old school when it comes to muscle cars and all but for the life of me can't understand why Toyota is still running rear disc. I'm old school in the sense of I'm from gms T.B.I. glory days not carbeuration old school.

You mean why they're still running rear drums? Sir, you just pulled the pin on a hand grenade and tossed it. This thread is about to blow up. :boom:

Ah crap, I truly apologize. The same thing happened when I asked my coworker who is a few years more seasoned and loves his rear drum brakes on his 15 Sierra 1500 while preferred my rear disc on my 00 silverado both V8 4x4, I had far fewer problems all though his did have a lot more miles even with 15 yr age difference
