yea I have same issue. I cannot get a good read off the stick just pulling it after I shut off. I do the pull the stick and let it sit out for a few mins and then go back and check and then I get a very easy to read line where my level is

I got over my oil change anxiety with my last two vehicles. Both of which were 10-15k intervals. At first it was weird because I was used to 3k.

New oil technology and engine tech is great. It's funny to read all of the techno-pessimism on this forum. Half of you distrust technology and fear change. If you extended the anti-tech logic elsewhere in your lives you would still be watching a 26" tube TV in standard def in stereo sound. Pretty dumb right?

I was wondering if the V6 was the same. Damn, I was hoping when I upgrade to the V6 I would not have that annoyance.

if toyota says 10k do it at 10k. but if you don't trust it then just do the oil change....more doesn't hurt the truck, only your wallet

As said in many other threads you can always change the filter every 5k and the oil at 10k:)

Some would say it does do harm since the oil has been drained. I believe it's called a dry start. Read that on bobistheoilguydotcom.

yea the v6 has a really hard bend it feels like right before it gets into the pan. kinda a PITA to get the dipstick to go in real easy sometimes. so if the stick is in the tube it most likely will just hold the oil there unless you pull it and let it all drain back down.

you can argue that happens every time you start the truck when it's ice cold. irrelevant imo

Toyota has spent way more time, effort, and money than anyone on this forum to give you the correct answer. Really, they have tested it and figured it out for you.

I went 10k and have no worries about it.

Guys...This Taco is just like my 2003 Goldwing... can't get a good reading without making an issue out of it...
But, you know what I found..?? The Goldwing does not use 1 drop of oil between changes... NOT 1...
So... I've got in the habit of change oil/put correct amount in...,. wait till time to change again.. this works.
I'll bet the same theory will work for the Taco...!!
If the driveway is NOT covered in oil.. F-it... Change the oil at whatever interval you wish... It will not use oil..
    My 5 cents(CDN)..!!

    10k good for mall crawling.
5k if you use your truck as a truck.
