Amsoil is a waste of money.

Our fleet 2.7 trucks all went 300k plus before they were sold with 10-15k mile OCI with the cheapest synthetic we could find.

soot is a product of diesel combustion
that diesel oils are formulated to hold in suspension

    shavings happen more at break-in
some happens always. More than some comes with failures.

When an engine fails, and has high shavings, as they do
it is seen by the human eye.
The factory requires a phone picture be taken and emailed to them, which then also gets seen by human eyes.

    the oil holds those shavings
by using that oil, you are running shavings. Shavings abrade.

5k OCI with good oil and filter. Simple.

Half of YouTube also thinks the earth is flat.

    YouTube is garbage.

Sniffing, tasting and comparing engine oil colors to a Pantone color wheel are all nonsensical and useless activities.

in my experience fuel dilution happens on direct injected motors

But when there’s HPFP failure leaking it down…(it’s a symptom of it)

or excessive idling. Idle mixture is rich and long enough contaminates oil with gas.

ie why more frequent OCI is recommended with high idle time like cop cars

Why would idle mixture be rich? We are running in CL mode almost right away from the start. Unless you operate in extreme temperatures

Why. It seems people disregard civility and sometimes, metaphorically, need to be slapped upside the head in order to understand basic concepts.
The world has gone soft. People want to be spoon fed.

they do not care about warranty. The factory part is marked up to sell the dealer at a profit.
They pay less labor amount, less labor hours, and no labor hours.

Warranty is designed into deciding price of new vehicles.

Jeep became unreliable after the 4.0.
Toyota started making itself unreliable in 05.
It’s designed to break a week after warranty so people buy a new one. More sales more profit. Like every other brand.

this is not new. Everyone knows this.

My 2012 hasn’t had a single thing break. It’s been out of warranty 7+ years.

because it’s an automatic 2nd gen
that was designed and came out in 05

except yours they added foam SAI that if left stock will blow your motor.

Thank goodness you are not senior management for a global company. With your beliefs, they would be bankrupt in a year.

The NC guy proves 10k intervals for his one vehicle that’s driven lots of long trip highway miles, not for the guy who drives short trips infrequently and the truck sits a lot. That would be me - and why I change oil once a year with less than 5k miles per year.

You said Toyota became unreliable in 05. And the foam filter doesn’t “blow the motor.” It goes into limp mode until the code is cleared or the valves replaced.

Why? Because being condescending adds no value to the OPs question or to TW. If you feel the OPs concern is for a lack of researching before posting his thoughts here, and it offends you, then move on from the thread and don't comment.
