    Just about to hit 5000 miles on my truck and with the virus going on I would rather wait to take it in. What is the mileage for the first oil change? 5000 or 10000?

    Thanks

    First change is 10k according to the dealer. Or 5k depending on how much you value your truck. I did my first oil change at 1k and then every 4-5k after that. Some guys panties will get in a bunch but I have no problem spending 40 bucks to protect my 30k investment. Ok someone cry now!

    10k or 12 months. A lot of people dont think about the time, always look at miles. I had my first at around 3k miles, but it was on the 12 month mark.

    Mods? Yes.
    Yeah 10k is the nominal interval. If you run it hard (e.g. towing) or off-road, 5k is the interval. Its clearly stated in the maintenance guidebook that came alongside the manual. I would go by what is in there...

    Some folks get nervous about early changes since some motors come with initial break-in oil that should be left in for a set amount of miles. From my research, Toyota does not do that with our motors.

    I do mine at 5k b/c its a small price to pay for the comfort and because I use the hell out of my truck.

    I sense feelings getting hurt.... who’s gonna be the first to cry a tear? The suspense is killing me!

    (I’ll fuel the dumpster fire)

    10k is way to long for an oil change. Don’t even get folks started on what oil they suggest using or if 33’s will fit without a lift. I didn’t even know it was Friday!

    It's a secret
    Ten thousands miles exactly...EXACTLY...for first scheduled oil-change. So, plan accordingly...plot out your course by distance when you're close to the 10,000mi odometer tally so that you're going to be able to pull up to your preferred service auto-shop not one more meter passed or shy of 10,000 miles.

    :thumbsup::rofl::crapstorm:

    ...don't worry if you're beyond 11,382 mile before your first scheduled oil-change. It's good practice to check oil levels at least once a month just to make sure it doesn't get too low when driving it a little past oil-change intervals.

    1st oil change at 1200 miles to get rid of the metal grindings that will score your bearing and cause catastrophic engine damage.

    Not really.

    But I did change mine at 1200 miles because it was a new engine/truck and i like doing that.
