I'm about to hit 5000 miles and I'm going to change my oil. 10000 miles seems like alot to me but what do I know.

    Stock and staying that way
I did my first at 3,980 miles and sent a sample to Blackstone. I would suggest 2k miles for the first, then 10k/20k/30k etc.

    Another triboligist wannabe lol.
OP there is no correct interval. There is what Toyota recommends and then there are ten thousand opinions on why they are wrong.
I have my dealer do it every 10K. And, *gasp* I sometimes don't get there until 11 or 12K miles!

On our work truck F350 gas engines our ams oil rep swears on every 25k we ride with a full 300 gallon tank engine plus 10-15 50 lb bags of fertilizer and we have had no issues. I believe the 0-20w says every 15k so I say 10 is safe.

4,998 and no more. Sorry, you have ruined your truck. Just part it out and save yourself the future problems.

Mine actually went a little over 10K because I came back from a longer road trip. You'll hear many say otherwise, but the full synthetic oil is meant to last 10K miles and beyond.

Well I'm an older fart that came from the "3,000 mile oil change club" and it was a very stressful situation when I let go and followed the 5,000 mile change! :anonymous: I'm at 4K miles on my 2020 now and I can NOT wait till 10K!!!:D Metal don't heal.

At 5k your oil is already black pretty much...all that coloration is small particles That absolutely put extra un needed wear in your engine. No way in hell I would wanna double what I already see at 5k. Some guys claim to have “honey” color oil at 5 or even 10k but that’s a whole other subject I call BS on lol.

i just changed oil (no the first) but i did use 5w40 Rotella T6 rather than 0w20.
And lo and behold the T6 pail changed and there no longer is an API -SN rating for gas engines! whaaa?! (older pail has it)
I'll let ya's know when it self destructs.
i tow a lot and do some changes at 8000km and others at 15k km just to mix it up.

The correct mileage, and or time interval is what you are comfortable with. Maintenance schedule is only a guide.

I did it a 5K then Toyota did it at 10K and tightened it way too much, then I did it at 15K, and then they'll do it at 20K...

Well since they are giving me 2yr 24 month maintenance that goes to 25k miles I’m planning to take the truck in every ~4 months regardless of my miles.

I’ll have them do the maintenance they are giving me since there is absolutely no chance I’ll hit 20k miles in 2 years.

Its basically only 2 oil changes and a few tire rotations in that period.

I asked specifically about this and they said 5 services, and got it in writing :) so I’ll just go in every 4 months and see what happens ;)
