    Lots of stuff
Op I think it’s plainly evident you could change it between 1k and 10k and you still won’t rub as long as you have a pro grille and after market headlights with a pedal commander or seat jackers.

It's not a matter sometimes of changing the oil too early, which imo, is unnecessary, but I know one guy here that gets a bit over zealous always believing to change his oil at 3k. Just took him one time to strip the oil pan drain bolt causing him to go to his chevy dealer to have a new pan replaced for a $500 job.

Be aware that the Toyota scheduled interval to meet warranty requirements is 10k miles. You may will also recall people recommending oil changes every 5k. The best thing you can do for extending engine life is change your oil. Every 10k may meet the minimum requirement to get you to the end of warranty period. If you plan on keeping your vehicle for a long time you need to understand that a new engine cost a lot more than a few extra oil changes. I was surprised on my first service visit and the oil was not due to be changed. Then I was happy that I did not pre purchase a maintenance package of oil changes the dealer offered. I would have miss calculated the frequency of oil changes the dealer would be doing at every 10k vs 5k. After watching this video I decided that every 5k miles or (8k kilometers here in Canada) is my choice. I still use synthetic oil for complete peace of mind.

Yes be sure to keep up with those oil changes! 10k with any brand of full synthetic so your engine will be sure to go 500k miles

well, you really have to work hard at it to strip on oil drain plug. There’s really no downside to changing early other than the cost and if you’re a tree, hugging bunny cancer, environmental impact of disposing of synthetic oil earlier than some think you should.

I’ve worked on airplanes for almost 40 years. changing the lifeblood of an engine early, removing contaminants, providing added, lubricity, is never a bad thing.

Well with aviation involved, I would think changing oil would be a big priority anyways....whatever goes up must come down one, or another. Imo, automotive isn't as critical....last I knew trucks don't fly at higher altitudes, at least mine won't.

    Just do what Youtube says.

Because Youtube is higher than tacomaworld, and tacomaworld is higher than design engineers of a multibillion dollar auto mfg company.

I've been trying to do some research as to when do perform my first oil change.

I haven't been doing much much since getting the truck - its close to a year old now and haven't done an oil change yet.

I have about 2800 miles on it, I should probably think about doing my first oil change for good measures huh?

Manual says 10K, but unless you live in city that has no traffic, or country that has no dust, you must change it at 5K.

What's funny is that the truck itself will pop maintenance light just before 5K. So I am thinking all this 10k BS is just greedy attempt to save money. Besides, most people now days don't keep cars that long, but if you are a long haul, go with 5K.

I've know many trucks that would go without oil change over 10K, in Europe. That was in rural areas where there was no traffic lights even, people didn't have to, but now days you idle more than ever.

Oh I plan on keeping my truck for a long time..

I'll go ahead and do an oil change before the end of the year just to be safe. it can't hurt.

Can you find a tacoma engine for your example? He might be a good mechanic, but he wants clicks more than giving the warm fuzzy feeling about your oil

The light come on at 5k for tire rotation. I don't understand how toyota saves money with 10k oil changes? Toyota only pays for 2 oil changes

10k is planned obsolescence, cost control, and marketing.

Oil is cheap. A lot cheaper than an engine.

I’ve been trying to think about what harm could possibly be caused by changing the oil early. The only thing I can come up with is the several seconds it takes for the oil pump to fill an empty filter and get oil out to the critical parts. I wonder if there would be any noticeable difference in wear on a 250,000 mile engine that had 50 oil changes (5k interval) vs. 25 oil changes (10k interval) due to this.

Amsoil signature series every 6 month/5k miles. Inside of my engine will be immaculate. Did my first break in oil change with signature series amsoil at 1k miles. Amsoil signature series’s has the best oil seal conditions on the market. Give your engine a fighting chance against oil leaks on top of all the other benefits of using it

many cars have their filter installed dry.

    you can pre fill it.

every cold start you have less lubrication.

if you’re concerned about such things, you’d have put an oil accumulator.

by paying for less oil changes like you just said
