    I did mine at 5000 as in the manual. I changed to synthetic on the first change.

    I changed to synthetic after 1K miles. Only because winter is coming and I like to have synthetic for winter. Otherwise, I would have waited the 5K mark.

    Yes, same here. Any new motor whether truck, car, or motorcycle I have ever owned, I religiously change first time at 1K, and then follow the manual for recommended intervals thereafter.
