look forward to participating on the site, great stuff here. I'll post pics after I take some during daylight hours.

Took my 14 Tacoma, extended cab SR5 6 speed manual to the local 4x4 shop today, looking for a lift kit. It rides on stock steelies. Garage folks there said I would have to go with aftermarket wheels if I lifted 3 inches, using I believe a Pro Comp lift.

Question...is that true? I don't have ether technical know how on this, but I know I've seen Tacos, lifted, riding on the factory steel wheels. Any feedback is appreciated.

Something about the travel of the suspension, a wheel that size would go to far in the wheel well? Didn't make a bit of sense but I'm outside my depth and didn't argue..

Yeah not true. I have a '14 that I'm lifting here soon but with coilovers. There's even a thread around here of pictures of lifted trucks with stock wheels.

Just do a search for lifted Tacoma stock

The people at the shop are jerks. They don't know what they are doing. I'd find a different shop. Depending on where you live, look in the regional forum and if your state is listed ask the folks in there who they recommend for installing a lift.

Ohh crap you're here in Atlanta!!! Yeah they are a big operation I'm Rather surprised by that. I know there's one over off of 85 and Buford hwy up in gwinett county. Hrmmm now I'm really stumped lol.

I recommend you do a forum thread search for reputable lift shop in ATL. @TRSAndrew may also have an idea I know he does a lot of stuff to his autos he may be able to recommend a shop here in ATL.

Nah I have stock rims and tires on mine with a 4 inch lift. I just have wheel spacers because of my particular lift, but you shouldn't need new wheels, that's ridiculous.

They said it wouldn't work with the lift. Never even talked about tires. What was funny was I showed pictures of Tacomas, on steels, lifted. Basically showing them what I wanted to do. Dude called them "unicorns".
