    Hi All,

First post, tried top look it up first.

Bought the most basic '23 Tacoma SR, 2.7 w/AT. At the last moment I realized I wanted remote locks, paid the dealer...and got sent to a local stereo store a few days later.

If they had said, "Toyota doesn't facilitate this," I would've done my homework and picked my own stuff.

The result: it SOMETIMES works, but not often. It SOMETIMES flashes the lights when it works, but not often, etc. I get flashing dash lights, which they say is some kind of issue w/ the OE security features. More reason why I should have separated the two until I was familiar with the truck.

What they installed was a Compustar 9xx...can't remember exactly which one without looking, maybe 937. They have replaced the unit and the remotes once, which produced no change. I'm about to hand it all back to them.

I've looked at the wiring diagrams, and this job looks as simple as it always was on any other car that already has sensors, relays and power locks, which this does. I'm historically competent at all this, and will probably do it myself now, with some different brand, as well as remote tailgate lock while I'm at it.

So, who's done this? was it some kind of freakishly difficult job as it has been for these guys? Suggestions.

Sounds like installer issue. I’m running Compustar with DroneMobile on all 3 vehicles with no issues.

Good luck on getting it lined out. There is a forum the installers use, you may see if you can find it and get what you have working since you already paid for it.

I agree about installer...they supposedly do all such work for Fred Anderson Toyota, but now act like my truck is from Mars.

It's been almost three months of this and 4 visits, so I'm handing the unit and fobs back to them today, and will start fresh. It's the CS-697A/CM-2500 with most of the features not utilized. Once I do it again, I'll use more of them.

This is your dealers problem. You paid them for a product, make them make it right.

Request a loaner vehicle while the dealer and the shop they subcontracted out try to un-F it. That’ll give them some more incentive to fix it quickly and correctly.

I have a Fortin Brand remote start and remote door Access my 2016,2019,2022, all SR's, the module and kit has been transfered to all of vehicles, I also did purchase the RFkits and Flash update module to modify my settings, with great sucess, which was plug and play on all of my tacomas.

FTR, I unplugged it and handed it back to the installer today in a bag, and it was never in question that I’d get a refund from the dealer.

I told them they couldn’t have the tiny harness they’d installed, because whomever goes next deserves to know what they did wrong.

Again, we looked at the wiring diagrams and there does not seem to be anything particularly mysterious about this truck (my youngest has access to pro mechanic site for this). I paid the dealer their premium because I wanted a turnkey solution. But I’ll get it all back along with a reminder of why I don’t usually hire “pros.”

Thanks for all the input. Also, I HAVE changed the oil once!
