This is not the "first post" I was hoping for. I found my dream taco (perfect colour, trim and packages [white, TRD Off Road, factory lift kit/skid plate]). It was under MSRP at a local dealer.

On the day of pick up, they could not release the car to me - took them a while to figure out there was a brand new recall (spiral cable assembly). The recall was posted a few days prior and the shop manager was not even aware of the recall yet.

    Ugh.

So for now it is sitting at the dealership until Toyota releases an official "fix". Ugh.

I suppose the anticipation will only make the pick up even sweeter. But Ugh.

Anyway - any Toyota insiders here have any clue when or how long a fix will be released? I saw something on the interwebs of "August 2023" but not sure of the credibility of the info.

That stinks about the recall but I guess it’s better than having it for a couple days and then having to take it back and leave it.

    welcome!

Seems to me this is a 'might-affect' kinda thing that doesn't affect every vehicle out there. No telling when the parts will be distributed along with the 'official' write up on replacing the part. Glad you got your perfect truck setup at a good price tho. It's worth the wait. Best part is this is a 3rd Gen....

I took my truck in to have the Combo Meter replaced under a TSB. Was told it would take about 3 days. My dealer had my truck for 3 weeks because the Combo meter needed the odometer set to my exact mileage and there was a back order. The worst part of the ordeal was a Hyundai Accent was my loaner. Because the TSB took longer than I was told, I did talk the Service Manager into getting me a Pro grille at dealer cost. Enjoy your truck when you get it.

ugh, at least they have acknowledged and addressed the problem. It'll get done soon enough, when these things sit,, that's their money sitting and it becomes a priority.
