First post: Vehicle Initialization?

Hello all.
Just had my battery disconnected to clean the post in time for winter. Since I Reconnected it, my radio ( and everything else) turns off immediately when I push the off button. It has always kept accessories powerd for ten or so minutes after turning it off. Called the dealer and he said the truck needs to be initialized at the dealership. Can anyone explain how I could do this myself. Thank you. Rick.

 

Watching this, because this "needs to be initialized at the dealership" nonsense can't be true.

Not to be obvious, but if your foot is on the brake everything should shut off immediately when you push the starter button. If your foot is off the brake, and you are in park (or neutral, I guess) the engine will shut off but not the accessories.

 

Thanks. Foot on/off the brake doesn't make a difference. Shuts off power immediately.

I have a PRO and each time I turn OFF the engine from the button, all dies. I like it like this. Is like with a key. Turn off the key all stops.
Will try on mine with brake on/off.

 

yeah, no i had no idea about the break thing. whenever i hit the off button everything turns off.
will try tomorrow and see whats up!

 

On auto
3rd gen if you are in park and hit button it shuts off.
If any gear other than park, when you hit button it will shut off engine but accessories stay on for xx minutes. (You can then put in park)

 

Brake or no brake, hit off button, all dies. Just tried it.

 

Mine all dies as well when I turn the truck off. Now if I could shut that stupid “door open” chime off that would be swell

Up until I disconnected and reconnected the battery accessories like radio, power windows, etc. Stayed operational after I pushed the off button. No doubt about it. Dealer said thats something they program as "Initialization". Just bugs me to need to go to the dealer after I disconnect the battery. I've checked the manual and I can't find anything about it. Rick.

 

I can close the windows, sunroof, and rear window after I turn the key off as long as I do not open the door.

 

Anyone know if this is stuff you can set with Carista?

 

Update. Seems like this issue may be self healing. As of this morning the power windows and sun roof work after shut down but the radio still shuts off immediately. Looked thru the multi media manual this afternoon but found no mention of the issue. I gues I can live with it. Thanks for all the replies. Rick.
