Suggestions for this repair? I have touch up paint coming. Was thinking scuff, paint, repeat, fine sand, polish? I'm a cabinet maker so I'm not used to fine finishes that a vehicle has on it so I'm not familiar with the grits to be used to get to the factory finish.upload_2023-11-19_20-18-47.png

Get a scratch kit. Turtle Wax or others come with pads of different grit.

Have a paint shop fix it if it bothers you

I would use a scratch kit that reseals the underneath layers, then try to match paint appearance. Will not be the last self-inflicted "decoration" an off-roader gets. You did not specify external source or self-inflicted.

Not self-inflicted, noticed it the other morning after having dinner out.

looks like some of the plastic got chewed up. cheap repair would be to clean it up by flushing thr plastic to the surface, maybe compound polish thr white streak which im assuming is the clear coat smudged, and then paint pen the black plastic. more expensive option would be buy a new color matched fender flare if toyota has them. they might only sell them as primed if i remember right.

Looks like a lot of white paint transfer. Polish that off and see what you’re dealing with from there. I recommend automotivetouchup for paint. They match way better than anything I’ve ever used.

Stock wheels and suspension. Random "utilitarian" mods featured on this great forum.
Looks like either cement or moon rock. First thing I got from the dealer was touch up paint. Also get yourself some fine-tip brushes. Remove as much other paint transfer, scuff up the scratch, clean with isopropyl and use fine brush to dab paint into the scratch.

Repeat building up layers slowly. Keep in mind, it'll never be perfect even due to even how much metallic you pick up dabbing it on. Final one, do the clear after about a week to seal it in but don't need to if you have enough layers.

That's how I've done it anyway with a variety of scratches on different vehicles and the fixes held up through many car washes, winters... etc.

It is, I have owned a cabinet shop here in Florida for 43 years so am used to painting, cabinets anyway, just not familier with the grit progession and what is the factory finish. Heck cabinets generally stop at 220 or 400 grit with trucks looks like they go to 5000 then polish?

It’s just a plastic fender… I would touch up with same paint and call it a day.
