Well I'm at the dealer for my first service, and while I've cruised some of the horror stories here I'm expecting better.

I'm in the lucky position of having bought my Tacoma from the dealer my mom works at, and I've had the pleasure of dealing with the same two dealer techs for years (had a Camry before this.)

That all said, even though I know my writer and technician personally, are there any recommendations as to what I should check before I leave the lot?

Thanks in advance for any help

Many dealers have horrible drive through washes, that aren't properly maintained, hard NO on the free wash. Enjoy your scratch free truck.

My mom buys Bojangles for the detailing crew every so often, and it's so they baby her vehicle.

I've got everything to do a proper wash in my driveway though, so I second that rec.

When I only had the Camry I bought a torque wrench specifically because of the one time where they left one loose and i lost the nut on the highway.

So I checked all of my lugs in the parking lot just now. They all seem correct.

In addition to not letting them wash your truck, watch it as it gets moved around the dealership and/or stand by the car wash machine to make sure it doesn't get done accidentally. I've stopped a car from getting washed more than once this way and the one time I did not do this they mistakenly ran my Black Wrangler with 7,000 miles on it through the car wash and if I was standing there I could've stopped them. The good news is this pushed me over the edge and I traded that Jeep 2 days later as I couldn't stand to look at it any more with it's no longer perfect paint job and a few hundred swirl marks in the paint. I also mark my wheels to make sure they do the rotation or not.

You are very fortunate to have a good service department, some here don't.
As other's I'd forego any "free" washings.

The first service visit is basically just a tire rotation and a quick visual inspection, double check the Lugnuts and make sure they didn't overinflate the tires.

Something you wait in line for, what feels like forever, just to pull into a space and shove into your face hole like the disgusting pig that you are before cleaning up and continuing with your day. AKA amazing biscuits (#Bo-BerryForTheWin), good fries, and an okay chicken sammich. If you ever travel towards the east coast, check em out. ...Just make sure you have 20 minutes to spare...and no shame. #Bo-BerryShameIsReal #ReallyDelicious

    OP:
    Definitely check:
    -Lug Nuts
    -Body Scratches
    -Interior for grease/dirt
-Skip the free wash, especially if you have a dark vehicle paint

Before leaving, go over the service report and verify what they did/told them not to do

brush your teeth and comb your hair?

Make sure they did in fact rotate your tires. Check your expensive alloy wheels for impact driver scuffs. Make sure they do due diligence on t your battery.

My dealer refused to do the oil change, despite having a "special operating condition" (towing, repeated trips in < 0 C, or driving on muddy roads.). The temperature condition pretty much applies to everyone in the North in winter.

All i can comment on is i've been scheduled by toyota to have my first service the first week of august. I was emailed there would be about a 45 minute wait while they do the oil change, rotate the tires, and check off what ever else is suppose to be done. Be interesting if actually so...i won't have near the mileage that is scheduled for that stuff.

Trust with a dealership is what gets people into trouble. Double check all their work.

My first service was a three hour tire rotation.
