not trying to bust on you, I had two previous trucks without this electronic stuff.
I like you dont get too envolved with it. I just get in and drive, but i noticed this new fango'd stuff does seem to help.

    Gotcha! Thanks.

That thread you referenced was not easy to understand but I tested it on my own truck and I see what your talking about now. I was the one who was surprised!

    Unconditional VSC Disable

With the vehicle completely stopped, press and hold "VSC Off Switch" for 5 full seconds until the VSC OFF light is illuminated on dash cluster. VSC will be unconditionally disabled for the entire driving session regardless of vechicle speed.

VSC and TRAC settings will be restored when you cycle the ignition or press the VSC Off Switch again.

The 30 mph automatic activation of VSC only applies with the "TRAC disable button" is pressed quickly which enables AUTO-LSD.

    Got it!

    Jesus Lord have Mercy!

My truck got it's first taste of snow with 55 mph wind gustslast night. Clicked the dial to 4h and my truck stucked on the road real good no complaints.got the kumho kl71's in think they helped too.

I live at 9500 feet in the CO mountains and literally drive 30 miles a day on snow-packed, icy roads to and from work...

I think my '09 DC TRD OR handles the snow better than any other truck I've ever had...

As stated above, all the systems fuction as they should, and work quite well... I usually drive in 4 Hi with everything activated. I 4-wheel drift through corners and push it just enough to keep the beeping and traction control/stability control to a minimum... I can usually do the speed limit in the snow.

Also, after driving my truck for almost a full snow season, I don't think it is unpredictable at all... I know how it will react and how far I can push it...

PS- I usually keep ~200 lbs of tube sand in the bed, and I have Big O Bigfoot AT's that seem to work great offroad and in the snow/ice...

When I want to play in the snow, I turn off the traction/stability control... :D

So, me not having this new technology YET, when does the BEEP rings? Is it every time you lose traction? Is it like the BEEP you hear when your seatbelt is not fastened?

Not the same beep. The "I just saved your butt" beep is quicker (~5 Hz rather than ~0.5) and higher pitched.

THANKS FOR THE EXTRA LARGE TEXT, YOU'RE STILL WRONG
See Attachment (Toyota Tech Manual). There is no unconditional VSC disable, unless you are in 4L. You can raise the threshold higher, but it is always lurking.

I think I already have a bookmark but I'll do it again. Another project for the Spring when it's warm enough to work outside. FYI the beeper doesn't go off when you're in 4HI. The roads were shitty today so I was playing around.

I also really don't understand all the confusion / frustration. It's amazing tech, and it you don't like it, shut if off. JUST LIKE IT SAYS IN THE BLOODY OWNERS MANUAL!!!
The very title of this thread shows how clueless some people are. What does the differential have to do with this? This is freak'n retarded......

I always tell my friend when I get squirrely with the truck and the beeper starts beepin' that it's a sign that we must be havin' some fun! It is nice to know that you can turn it off though...

I agree with you and take full accountability for an inappropriately titled thread.

I was caught up in the moment with my new truck and thought I'd have to live with this shit... But thanks to the board :D I can disable it.

It still doesn't answer my question about how to shut off the sound.
I can feel it when it kicks in. I just don't like to hear about it.

You can turn it off and it stays off at any speed. I also did a nice long one wheel peel when it was raining today and no intervension from the VSC. found a muddy sport near my house and did some donuts.

VSC does not affect spinning wheels. Only skids. Look at the thumbnail I posted, VSC is still on and will intervene "when yaw rate is large". Basically either under braking, or at higher speeds. This is specifically stated in Toyota's tech manual. It's still there, lets move on.....

I cant say its there or not. Like i said i did a donut or two trying to get the truck a little muddy. The light stayed on and no beeping or intervension...donuts put quite a bit of yaw on the sensors...
