Hey guys, new owner of an 02 tacoma double cab 4x4 with the 3.4. I have a couple questions. Most importantly, my ABS light is on and stays on while the engine is cold. Once you get it go normal operating temperature, shut the engine down and start it back up and the light is gone. What could be some causes? Secondly, belts squeel on cold start as well, causes and solutions? I know obviously the belts are probably the issue, so does anyone have the part numbers?

Also I have an 87 K5 blazer as well. I've been in the market for a taco and found one, that same night the blazer threw a rod. 2 days later and I got the taco!

    Hey brother.

As far as I know, the ABS light will come on when you're even a little bit low on brake fluid. My old Civic did that when I would come to a stop, then shut off when I would go again. I'm pretty sure my Tacoma's done that at one point or another, too. So check that first.

As far as belts, just get them replaced and make sure there isn't any excess wear on the old belt, i.e. shredding on the edges, etc. Check the pulleys, too. That should do it!

    Thanks
    K

Check the tension on the alternator belt first. Squealing right after initial start-up is usually that one. Or it may be worn out & need replacement. When you use the starter it pulls current from the battery, the voltage regulator tells the alternator to put the current/voltage back, so the alternator is demand loaded as soon as the engine fires off.
