I had an Infiniti Q50 with a 3.7L engine that has some serious get up and go. I bought a boat, so I needed something to pull it, so I traded it in on a new Tacoma SR5. First impression was a little disappointed with the power. The sales guy told me the 4 cylinder would pull my boat (about 3,500lbs) and the 6cyl 3.5L would have no problems. So I bought it. After driving it for a few weeks, I was still unimpressed with the power and hadnt had the chance to pull my boat (winter). I sold my house and needed to move and borrowed a large enclosed trailer. I was told it would pull it, no problem. I loaded it up and had my doubts. Let me say, I was shocked at the pulling power it has. It felt like I wasn't towing anything. There was almost no noticeable affect on the handling. It was a bizarre feeling. How could something that felt sluggish, pull 5,000+ lbs like it was a bike rack... Very happy with the purchase now :) Been doing some Audio upgrades and having 3" lift and 20" wheels and tires installed tomorrow, along with a Tonneau cover. Having fun making it my own and enjoying my first Tacoma.
