    Hi all,

When I was a youngster, I had a 1987 Toyota pickup and loved it. I have several friends with Tacomas and I've always been a bit envious. I finally decided I was tired of the sporty car and went with my own 2015 dcsb trd off road Tacoma. I debated waiting for the 2016 but ultimately felt I'd like to avoid the hassle of a first gen, even though I actually kinda like them so far. I'm quite happy with my purchase, and I may just leave it exactly the way it is. I love this vehicle and happy to be here.

    Cheers, everyone. Happy Memorial Day.

Congrats OP, truck looks like it was modded at the dealer? Tasteful, hopefully the lift is decent. Looks great. Welcome!

Thank you! It was modded at the dealership: 2.5 inch lift (not many details on this, sadly - they do claim to warranty the work), bigger wheels, tires, nerf bars, the trd pro grill (I believe) and they also seem to have mostly rebadged it with the red "TRD" badges you see in favor of the Tacoma badges and a roof rack. It's the non-jbl entune system with navigation.

My previous vehicle was a bit behind the times even compared to the "dated" Tacoma, so I'm loving all these entune features. Really, I'm just loving everything about this vehicle so far. Can't wait to get up into the hills with this thing.

You have a pro grille insert (chrome surround is off road, sr5 whereas pro was color matched like sport). Your wheels are the 4runner pro wheels, the red badging is from the trd baja tacomas. Overall a tasteful set of mods for a dealer. For your lift look at the coil, is there a plate or hockey looking puck up top (spacer lift) or is there a silver bilstein shock which would be the 5100's or coil over type lift.

It's the spacer lift... I assume this is less than desirable? If so, what should I try to be wary of? Thank you for all the info!

It is but plenty of guys run them without issues, some reports of guys breaking shocks at the bottom, but like I said ALOT of guys run these lifts with no issues, though alot of people on here will tell you otherwise, but its tacomaworld. If the ride dosent bother you comfort wise, had a set for my first lift and they were a bit rough for me,and you dont want to do any serious offroading then keep them. Otherwise you could get a set of new Bilstein 5100's as a nice upgrade to the spacers, should be about $150 for the set. Or you could go crazy and do a whole coilover set up.

Awesome, thanks for the info. For the cost, it sounds like a very worthwhile upgrade. I'll look into it. I appreciate the feedback.

    usafwx,
I just purchase a revtex 3 inch front 1.5 inch leveling kit and upgrading shocks to the belstain 5100's. Having installed it yet, waiting tell the first of the month. How do you think this set up is going to be?

The revtek kit is a spacer lift, you sort of have a double lift going on there, the billies are adjustable to achieve lift, you can level the truck by moving it to the 1.75 setting and one and done, no need for the spacer revtek lift, but this wont give you the full 3 inches. If your trying to get the full 3 inches you should just run the spacer revtek lift. Another option if you dont want spacers would be to do something like this for the front with the billies. http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/ToytecBilstein-5100-coilovers_p_363.html

Damn, well since everything is already bought I will end up putting it all on. My goal its to give it a slight left but most of all I am looking for a better ride and I want to put 285/75/16's on it. Would my goals be met?

After a bit of reading, I think I'm going to save up for an upgraded suspension sometime down the road and enjoy the truck as it is now. I'm willing to bet my desire to keep it in great condition will limit me much more than the spacers ever will. For the risks I'm willing to take, the spacers will be just fine. If they aren't, I'll upgrade as needed. I really appreciate the input though. It's been fun to read up on everyone's perspective on the lift spacers so far.
