    Well hello to all,

Believe this is my first post on this forum. And I couldn't be more excited! I recently picked up a 96 taco ext cab 2wd that a buddy converted to a solid front. Currently she is still 2wd and will be for a little longer.

She has axles from an 85 yota front and rear also with stock springs. Also took the stock push pull steering and stuck it on there....lil bit of bump steer! But We will get to all that!

Now, the guy who built this used to have a 98 tacoma just about the same....except after he built it he went taller and ran larger lift springs and 42s. For now Im sitting on 37s, which look great...but are a little tight on the fit.

He built this tacoma the same way he built the other....took the mounts from the old truck and welded them to the front of this one. Really I wanted to post a few pics and see what yall thought about it.

He was driving this truck exactly how it sits now, a little over 60 miles a day. The guy has been building for a while....he has quite a few boggin vehicles and custom makes just about everything you can think of.

A few years back, after he finished the old toyota he sold it to another friend who ended up totaling it out. Now the truck was done for, but the mounts and everything he made up front were still perfectly in tact.

All in all, I know I am going to have to drop a little bit into the truck....but as I sit right now, I have $900 into it.

Anyways, love/hate whatever else away lol I am ready to get some feedback and see what yall think. I just got a new phone so lost all my old pictures and these are all I have on me at this moment!

    Thanks guys! (and gals!):D

    Oh, and to add to:

The block is under the one side, because the spring had a little sag...
And my biggest wonder was, with using just that piece of L channel (or whatever its technical name is) will it be enough structural integrity?

    Thanks again!

They are older stock 85 springs.....assume over time the start to sag some.

Ive also got a spare axle, and 10 inch lift springs in the bed.
Along with crossover steering and a nissan steering box....and god knows what else.

O god where do I start... Ok so I'm gonna start with the front leaf spring. A piece of tube like that welded to the frame is no were near strong enough for anything, its a miracle it hasnt sheared off yet. A block on one side is extremely unsafe (it looks to be wood in the picture to). The welds look porous and did not get good penetration. And Grade 5 bolts appear to have been used on the shackles which will shear faster then you will believe.

Its a start but to be honest cut everything out. Go to Trail-Gear and buy yourself new springs and hangers and have a good shop properly weld everything in... I'm not trying to be an ass but I wouldn't even sit in that let alone drive it. Good luck with it

Its no worries bud, honestly thats what I was looking for.

I figured that was going to be something I would hear, not a big deal. Im not driving her daily or really at all right now.

Its not wood, it is a standard block....not that it helps much lol

Its like a drop bracket SAS :D

Agreed on getting rid of the posts, weld in new shackles, and get some new springs. for good changes to come.

Wow!!!! Did anyone notice the push pull steering?!?!? Looks like that all needs to come off, basically you will be redoing the entire job.

    Don't buy trail gear.

There should be a license required to own a truck and a welder, or maybe just a welder.

I've done a mod or two
    It's um.....
    Well at least it's.....
    Maybe if you.....

In all honesty just cut it back to stock and start over. The booger welds holding the leaf hanger are very sketchy, the drop for the leafs has no support and I'm rather sure the bolts in the leafs are under size. I shudder to think of what the transfer case mount looks like, I'd be worried about it holding the output. I don't want to be a dick, but I think it may need more time and attention to make it functional and SAFE than you'll want to put in.

Good luck, subbed to see what you do with it! :)

dont worry guys, I didn't buy it plate it and just start driving it lol

I just wanted to see how bad i could get dogged....like I said a buddy built it, he needed some quick cash so I bought it off him for a fun lil project truck.

and yes, his alternative is always just cut it, and weld it lol
