Both the Toyota distributors you have to deal with on the east coast, have official toyota tail gate power lock kits that they or the dealer can install. If I remember correctly the wiring they access on their instructions is easy, just remove the drivers kick panel, and everything is there.

If only theses Tacomas had a tailgate lock , oh wait sorry . If only these Tacoma owners would use their tailgate lock.

No issues since the install it works just fine. It is noisy but I can live with that. Peace of mind of knowing the tailgate is locked with the doors is worth the noise for me.

Sorry to hear about your tail gate. If you find the culprit just bury them in the hills.

CXP8PRO [OP], Sorry for your lost man. It also happened to my buddy but the table turn to our favor. He used the GPS sticky thing and installed it inside the tailgate. It cost around 25-30 something bucks. But anyway, we able to tracked down the thiefs. It located in the body shops the other side of towns. They did cut the camera wires and dent the tailgate.

PS: Pardon me, I am also a new member of this forum and currently placing an order for Limited. This forum is actually provided a lot of informations. Nice to meet you all.

It's actually quite common in San Antonio. My buddy's neighborhood (stone oak) got 12 stolen in one night. Hear about it all the time in other areas of the city too.

I'm surprised they didn't steal the pro taillights while they were at it. That's the main reason I always lock mine because how much i spent on those damn taillights. It also helps that 90% of the time it's either on base in the parking lot at work or in the garage of my house that's also on base  haha one good thing about the military!

I didn't read all 8 pages of this thread. However, I bought a Pop & Lock PL 8535. This locks and unlocks your tailgate with your remote door locks. $88 and super easy to install. Sorry to hear about your tailgate

The tundra one works on 3rd gen. Tacos. I love mine.

The lights come out quicker than removing/disconnecting the tail gate. No one ever said thieves are smart

Time for some security cameras me thinks. You already know they are hitting your area, a stolen tailgate might be the least of your worries.

Edit: Just saw you already have, good call!

That's crap. Sorry to see that.

Funny thing is, I was just talking to my wife last night as according to a post here some one in Maine got one stolen and we are talking a town with 4k people. Think it might be wise to get the pop and lock setup.

Was it locked, or did the thieves circumvent that?
