OK this is the 1st vehicle I've ever bought without actually seeing it before purchasing it. 1st I didn't realize until I got home and went to undercoat it that part of the Box is plastic.. Although this might make it easier or less likely to rust I don't know how well I like and what I might be able to put in the back of the truck. Speaking of plastic. The interior of the door is all plastic. Even with the leather seat option. The last thing is the frame. I have had 3 other toyotas before this that had a box frame. When did toyota go to the C frame? Any way i like my truck and need to figure out the tech then i will pust how i feel about that. As for now most of the under neath is rust proofed now and the paint is ceramic coated. I

I heard some of the frame is even made of plastic on the 2022s.

Imagine not doing your research, not driving a truck, and then complaining it isn't what you thought it would be?

Composite. Hauling loads just fine since 2005.

What rock did you crawl out from under?

Hopefully you used a product like Fluid Film, Wool Wax or Cosmoline. Rubber based spray stuff from parts houses is a rust enhancer.

And you know, you could have test driven a '21. It's not that different. Even your frame is 2005 vintage.

So no whining about interior appointments, etc etc.

WTF did I just read? And when did Monday threads become worse than Friday threads? Oh welcome to the world of plastic. Food for thought I was recently in a friends BMW M6 and holy shit the interior has plastic in it and leather.

Under the cab is kinda where it is transitioning from fully boxed to C Channel so it's basically a Hybrid Frame.

Just wait til the driver window comes off the track and falls into the door. Might want to carry some clear plastic and duct tape

The plastic bed has proven to be reliable and durable enough that it is now the new bed material in the 2022 Tundra.

ok so you may have been 7 beers in when you posted this. :) Cheers! :drunk:

Trucks are made of mostly plastic like most modern vehicles. Helps fuel economy, mfg. costs are lower, <insert lots of other reasons here>, guessing you know this and are just having fun. The tech is actually quite impressive, to the point I suggest planning on a couple of hours with it .. (4 beers)... just to see all the custom settings, etc.

Nice on the ceramic! Now post a pic! It's sort of the unsaid rule. :anonymous:

Well i like and follow the beer rule. I understand the the use of plastic in todays cars and trucks. And yes i did drive a couple tocomas and a tundra before buying this truck. I under the current situation there are no new trucks on the lot. I never thought they would make the box plastic to even look at it. As for the frame yes it does become a box frame at the front of the cab. The box frame has more rigidity. As for under coating. I used the 3m rubberized i am hoping that applying it to a new frame it will few better than my 4runner that i did not protect. Perhaps there should be a thread of different products and how they are holding up over time.
