Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
My 04 had 75k on it when I got it, 82k now and it didn't look near that good underneath, frame is still solid but I am going to push and try to get it replaced this summer. Sometimes they take it for several weeks to do the frame so I want it to be nice enough out so I can drive my 7.3 Powerstroke without having to plug it in each night if they do in fact take my truck away to do the frame.

I will certainly inquire about this on Monday , providing they are open to see if they can tell me anything on if that vehicle has had any warranty work on that done before.

so if the frame hasn't been done yet under the recall then you can just take it in to the dealer and they will set you up with getting it done?

and are you going thru the dealer under the warranty recall? If not are you paying for it yourself and how much? I'm pretty sure you aren't paying lol

I would just check the entire frame, brother. If they sanded it down a little and painted over, it'll be hard to really tell via pictures. If you're really set on this truck, make sure you get to inspect it before taking delivery and crawl underneath with a hammer and screwdriver and just tap your way along the whole undercarraige.

not sure if you saw where I replied and had a connection to someone that lives close to the dealership and they went and inspected it for me and things looked fine. He is mechanically inclined by the way and was a guy who lived close enough to go check it out for me. The guy who lives here in SC near me said he is pretty good so I trust his word.

now ofcourse I will check it out myself when it arrives . Also just got some great news. Called the dealership that actually had it for sale when the other dealers bid on it and talked to service. The trucks frame was taken care of in 2009 and it has a warranty for any frame problems through 2019 or 2020.

Oh, didn't catch that. Well, sounds like a good buy then! Is it being transferred to a dealer near you?

no shipped directly to my house for 600 bucks

I considered going and picking it up but would of been not much more overall to just have it shipped. Maybe 100 bucks but that's my time :)

yeah man thanks you guys though for taking the time to provide some insight. Man I love forums :) Ever since I started on all kind of forums back in about 01 I've learned a lot and got good advice, ideas and such ....

i'm sure I will be back posting and asking questions about the truck and how to's, ect.

I'm going to put on a fiberglass tonneau and the sidesteps and tint the front windows, and if the stereo aint so good, upgrade it and call it a day :)

I have a Pioneer BT cd that I have in the mustang and I will probably just put it in the truck. I wanted to go with a better one overall in the stang anyway so I can see swapping it out. I was going to get at least a 13 Tacoma because that's when they put the wireless BT in the head units and it had to be the system with the premium stereo as it sounded nite and day from the regular jbl in the 13's and above. I wouldn't have done anything to the stereo probably. It hit nice and hard. So now I will see how the overall system sounds when the truck arrives and it not to my liking I will at least upgrade the speakers and possibly might put a sub in.

I wonder if some of the 04's had the premium stereo option? If so hopefully mine has it and it sounds as good as the 13's premium :)

As far as I know there wasn't a "premium" audio system available. I may be wrong though. I have a Pioneer head unit and 4 pioneer speakers. Much better than stock, but if I redid it, I would go all out on touch screen, nav, and Xfinity speakers. Just so you know, fitting a sub may be difficult. You could probably do a shallow mount sub behind the rear seats, but keep in mind that that's a pretty useful storage location in the truck. That's why I don't have a sub back there. Aside from behind the seat storage, there's no out of sight storage locations other than under the two front seats or glovebox and console.

    cool, cool, gotcha.
Yeah I agree on the storage idea so I will strongly consider and ponder that. I might want to try and get maybe some 8's somewhere if I can, get some ideas from some shops or something. Or even maybe 6x9's.

I will have a fiberglass tonneau too though for storage. My friend bought his 03 or 04 new back then and he made something for the bed to where groceries and such wouldn't slide all the way to the front.
