Hey guys, first time Tacoma owner. After years of coveting, I finally pulled the trigger on a 2012 Crew Cab Prerunner 4x2. Need the bed for work, spend almost all my time on the road so traded 4wd for slightly better gas mileage. Original owner took meticulous care of it. Local dealer has done all oil changes within 500 +/- miles of the 5,000 interval as well as all recommended services at 30K, 60K, 90K, and 120K. Dude even bought tires from the dealer.

Literally the only thing I can find wrong with the truck is a strange problem with the radio/bluetooth. Everything works normal when I start off in the morning. My iphone 6S is paired with the system and I stream music or podcasts with no issue. Hands free phone works great. But as soon as I stop, say for gas, and turn the truck completely off, when I restart the truck, the radio doesn't come on. Sometimes it comes back on all by itself after a minute or so. Other times it stays off for 30 minutes or more. I don't think it's a connector issue, because the problem is not intermittent once the radio comes on (or first thing in the morning.) What's even stranger is that while the radio is not working (no sound, no lights,) my itunes player is still playing. My phone is connected to something. If I press the power knob, my phone pauses. If I press the power knob again, my phone starts playing again. However no sound, and no lights on the radio head unit. Also if someone calls my phone while it's paired but not "working," the caller can hear me, but I cannot hear the caller.

I work in outside sales so I do a lot of stopping and starting during a normal day. It's getting really frustrating not having radio all the time. I don't really want to replace the radio because I don't care for the look of after market audio equipment. Plus I don't think my radio is faulty. Seems like some sort of computer issue.

Anyone else ever hear of anything like this? Anyone know how to do a hard reset on a 2012 model? Anyone know anything else I can try?

    Thanks!

Love the title - Mr. Obvious. Welcome. Sorry I have not input to your radio issues. I have a 11 and having no issues. Pairs fine with my 5s.
