Had today off and thought I'd swing by and finally check out one in person. Living in TX good A/C is a must. Surprised to see no rear A/C vents. I have a 4 month-old, and I'm not sure if it would cool down well enough in the back. Do the newer Tacos or maybe TRD package include rear vents?

Surprised to see how basic/plain the truck is. It was a SR5--but just seemed very basic. I didn't even see a USB slot (only AUX). I thought the 09s had one. The short bed seemed just that...short! I may want to check out a long bed.

I'm not all too familiar with trucks. I had an '03 Tundra TRD Sport for a shor time, and it seemed to drive much smoother than this '09 Taco DCSB I test drove. The truck also didn't accelerate as well as I had imagined.

No rear A/C but there is a USB port in the same spot as the aux. If you folded down that little rubber flap you see a headphone type jack and a USB port.

A/C cools the back off just fine. Mine's black and the kids don't complain in the backseat.

Yeah this one was black as well. That or MGM would be my color of choice, at least from what I've seen online in pics. Thanks for the reply.

Tacomas are lacking a little in the fancy gadgets department but they are awesome trucks. They'll hold their value way better than anything else in the category.

Check my build thread...too much to list.
Honestly if you just fire up the truck and run the A/C for 5 mins the cab should be pretty decently cool. The inside of these trucks aren't huge. My daughter now 7 months old has been fine and summers here in Cali can get pretty hot.

USB port did not come in till 2012 I believe. My 09 only has the auxiliar but no USB and is the loaded version.

Nope, no rear vents on any model Tacoma. The trucks are relatively basic for what you pay for, but they hold their value like craazyyyy.

Double cab has ducting under the seats.

If you set the fan to "feet and face" it will blow cold into the back.

At least it's this way on my '12 Offroad DC

Tacos are pretty basic. No real need for rear AC. Cab is not that big. My Sportrac has duct in the rear but do not think it does any good. It may be heat only.

Aren't there vents under the seats that blow on your feet? Not much but better than nothing.

MGM, I think he means 'real' vents, like the overhead vents on the Highlander.

Problem is, if you do this it doesn't blow hard enough to really cool the truck off down here. Works better if you just choose the "face" option.

I usually let my truck run for a few minutes to let the ac run and cool the taco off

Tacoma is still built like a truck, and therefore lacks some of the fancier features and creature comforts you might find in the average SUV or sedan.

Thanks for the replies, everyone! I was thinking size-wise, the Tacoma would be perfect for us. My wife may even drive it time to time if we buy it. Coming from a Highlander Limited, I don't think she'll like the ride to be honest (among other things). I might take a look at the Tundras. They just look huge though! More truck than I would need. Anyone know if those have rear A/C vents?

**On a side note, while I was getting my free oil change at the dealer for my wife's Highlander, I overheard a gentleman telling another gentleman about the "sale" going on right now. Apparently Tundras are "buy 1, get one..." (not sure if the 2nd vehicle was another Tundra or any Toyota of equal/less value). Of course I don't believe this regardless. Even if it was true, I'm sure there'd be some weird catch to it. Anyone heard anything similar before though?

Yeah but the way the guy was talking...it was an older guy talking to another older guy. He was very serious saying "I'm gona talk to my wife and probably get her a Camry free after i get my Tundra."
