So I'm flying out to Salt Lake for a wedding next week and some family want to go out to Moab for a few days. Moab is on my bucket list do with with the truck and also to do by motorcycle.... but I wont have either this time around. Is it worth going as a... pedestrian? They are asking me if I want to go. Super conflicted.

Yes if you can appreciate spectacular scenery from the road. No if you won't be happy without getting tires dirty.

Lots of outfitters there. Just no WalMart. I'm with you. If being a pedestrian means doing some hiking, be a pedestrian. Lots of great hiking trails.

Edit: take a good pair of boots and a hydrapak. It's going to be hot.

There are several National Parks in Utah that are bucket list worthy. You don’t have to go to Moab.

So the catch is we are with one of my wife's family members who has COPD so we are pretty much limited to some mechanized tour or simple on-road scenic driving. What would you recommend within driving distance of salt lake?

I was about to recommend the same thing. We were out there on a trip last fall hitting abunch of national parks with my mom (Zion, Bryce, Capital Reef, Arches, and Canyonlands). By the time we got to Moab at the end of the trip we were getting alittle burnt out of playing tourist in the parks so we rented a side by side.

We had a BLAST playing around Fins and Things and Hells Revenge. I'll probably get torn apart on here for saying this but honestly you'll have way more fun with the side by side than you would with your truck. You can just rally your way through stuff that's 1mph crawling territory in a Jeep or Truck. Most annoying part of the day was getting around all the slow ass Jeeps.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that all the rental side by sides out there are plated so you can just drive them to and from town and the trails which makes it super easy.

My mom won the hauling a** award for the day on Fins and Things. She hopped in the drivers seat and I'm pretty sure the pedal was to the floor the whole time.

Forgot to mention that part too. With a rental you can drive it like you stole it! :bikewhoops: Plus its fun with the rental cause you can take more turns driving than you necessarily would with you own rig (I know I don't let other ppl wheel my truck)
