Hmm, hopefully that's within reasonable distance to look at it first person.

For 1500 bucks why are you even wondering about MPGs? I'm curious to see how this turns out.

I'm just saying, even a parts car that's been in a rollover would probably be worth a little more than $1500.

There is something that doesn't add up here.

There is some sentimental reason for getting rid of it. I spoke with the owner directly and she informed me that her son and husband were killed in an accident (not in this vehicle). NEEDS to get rid of it because it reminds her of her son. I would like to believe that she is telling the truth.

Just buy it, even if it needs an engine, you are ahead of the curve....if it was online, you saw pics of the truck, yes? Post up one. Sounds like you are not close by, I would be driving to the truck right now with $$$ in hand...someone will buy this from under you if you stall even a little bit...

    I guess you'll find out.

Someone selling a car for well below its value generally doesn't pick a random price like $1550. It isn't just giving it away to get rid of it and it isn't reflective of the actual value. Blue book on that is significantly higher, and if she really wanted to sell it for cheap she could list it under blue book and still make thousands of dollars, something I assume she needs if she's actually dealing with 2 deceased family members.

It just doesn't all add up to me. I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

I'm curious as where it's listed for sale, you said it was a place that catches scams, but it's listed online at well under value, so it has to be listed on some kind of personal sales website like Craigslist and similar pages.

A grieving mother and wife takes truck pics behind a distribution center, with a perfect wash job and no visible dirt, with new tires and wheels and sells it for less than 10% of what it's worth?
    Does this make sense?

You'd think, but it is not. Also, just because someone loses family members doesn't mean they are strapped for cash. I ran this same issue by my dad. He said if it were him, he'd just sell the car for whatever to get rid of it and then donate the cash. Any money made on my death would have been equally as bad. It is a logical argument, and not out of the realm of possibilities.

I understand your skepticism, trust me I am too. But the car is being housed and taken care of through a third party. The woman isn't selling this out of her driveway.

I really hope this deal works out for you. As others have said.... this truck is worth well over 1550 just as parts. I mean hell... There is close to a thousand bucks just in tires on her... Quit posting and buy the fucker. :D I think they left a 0 off the price to be honest.
