    I just joined this site a few days ago, haven't done much looking around on the site yet. I found it while looking for ideas on roll bars for Tacomas. I just bought my first Tacoma one month ago today(bought 01/24/13). It's a 2013 SR5, 2 wd, silver color, access cab.
    I saw a warning label on the visor that says higher rollover risk, so I have been thinking about building a rollbar. I have my own welding equipment, and have a need from time to time to haul 20' pieces of steel stock. I was already considering a headache rack to haul some metal on, with a rear upright plugged into the receiver hitch for long stuff only when needed. I had thought about a full length bed rack extending over the cab, but really don't want the extra weight and wind drag all the time.
    The main thing I am looking for is ideas on how to mount to the frame under the bed. Anybody have any pix or links to threads showing how this has been done? I know mounting on top of the plastic bed is not going to work as a roll bar mount, need to make steel to steel contact, and bolt it to the frame.
    Here's a pic of me and the truck taken by the dealership just before I rolled out for the trip home.

    I think the government (or their attorney) makes them put a label like that on. You have a 2WD... and I don't see the Off Road TRD sticker on your truck, so it isn't like a Jeep CJ-5 or Suzuki Samuri (neither is my 4WD Off Road Tacoma), and you would have to be really doing something crazy to be able to roll a Tacoma, specially an unlifted one.

    Even so, I would still like to have a look at what has been done to mount a roll bar to the frame rails. All the pictures I have found so far only showed the roll bars with no details of the mounts. It kind of has my interest piqued to find out how it has been done before.:confused:

    you'll have to cut through the bed at the points nearest to where you want to mount to the frame.

    there are some pictures you might come across of "roll bars" but they are really just mounted on the bed rails using the cleats and provide little more than aesthetics and light mounting points
